This is like the 1,000,000 mile tundra. Toyota made some good trucks back in the day :militarypress:

2001 Ranger = 147,000 miles before everything fell apart. Maybe that's a record for a Ranger...should've contacted a Ford dealer for a prize.

Yup that was my post. I posted the truck all over Reddit, most recently to reddit.com/r/justrolledintotheshop and it's been getting a lot of traction. You can tell it's the photos I posted because I censored the license plates in the exact same way. I got the photos on this post a couple pages ago.

I am very surprised someone managed to write an article so quickly, I posted it on Reddit a couple hours ago. They're loving it over there.

I gave the OP credit of course.

I'm glad you got a new truck out of the deal. It's also very commendable that you had it so long. Did you only do routine maintenance?

Haha oh no it's not my truck. I posted the photos from the owner (you can see the pics a couple pages back), blurred the plates, and posted it on Reddit. My most recent post on it got a lot of traction and someone wrote an article on it.

I posted it haha. I put it on a bunch of different subreddits, but the most recent one to /r/justrolledintotheshop got the most traction. Reporters LOVE to steal things off Reddit for content. If you read an AOL article or Buzzfeed post you'll notice the sources all link back to Reddit.

I don't think many reporters browse TacomaWorld...

Great story. The dealership should drop it from a crane 20 feet in the air and the drive it around. That would get some publicity!

You know Top Gear did that with a Hilux... right? They dropped it off a 23 story building.

In case you guys haven't seen it parts 1 and 2 involve them parking the truck (and drowning it) in the English Channel, crashing it into a tree, driving it through a building, dropping a trailer on it, setting it on fire, and you guessed it, dropping it off an imploding building.

It started up fine every single time. They have it on display on the Top Gear set.

Yeah I saw that...meant to mention that show but I saw it a while back and couldn't remember the specifics. It's worth watching that whole episode.

I know this sounds crazy, but theres a guy where i live that has a f150 with just under a million miles on it, and ford contacted him and wanted to give him a new f150 once his hits a million. He actually just lives about 10 pr so minutes from me. I run into him all the time.

Yeah, you don't hear that about Fords. Mostly people go "why did you get a Ford?"

Saabs, Volvo's and Yotas get up there though. Probably Honda as well.

Yea, i actually didnt believe him, and he showed me some paperwork from the ford dealership, and a few pictures and stuff. I had no clue his truck had that many miles on it, it doesnt look like it, he takes extremely good care of it, but he uses it as a truck. Hes always got something on a trailer being pulled, or his boat or camper or something. Next time i see him i will try and snap a few pics of it and the odometer.

That would be pretty cool to see.

I was going to get an F-150 but all the mechanics I talked to recommended Toyota over everything else.

I always assumed when someone speaks poorly of Ford, they must be Chevy guys. Interestingly Chevy's have a low opinion amongst mechanics as well. It pays to ask further questions to mechanics like "What would you get?" Or "what brand rarely comes in with major problems."
