I was looking at FJs back in the day but ended up buying the Tacoma. Made more sense with the truckbed, After 5 years im glad I bought it.

and my brother has a FJ80 and he bought a FJ for a family car, but he just traded it for a Lexus last week. he said he got tired of having no room.

To own both, would be really cool.

I was interested in this one as a second vehicle: http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/636563149/overview/

But they wouldn't take an Audi on trade, and they wouldn't budge more than $600 off the asking price, and they're located too far away from me.

thats a good price for that fj the mileage is a little high but if you can get one like that for around 20 youll be golden, think of it this way it WILL retain its value

I just couldn't pay that much for a truck with that many miles, regardless of what it's actual value is. I'd buy it today for $18K though.

last time i saw one go for that cheap it was a 4x2 base. you at least want to get the 4x4 man or auto be advised though the manual has the lowest mpg. i wanted to get a base model but those are hard to find specially with low mileage since the youngsters usually go for those and drive the hell outta them

Better deals can always be had. Eventually I'll find the one I want for the price I want, or I won't buy one.

I had an 08 FJ 4yrs only 68k mi because I had a company vehicle for that job, basic W/pwr windows & roof rack loved, it traded for a loaded 2012 FJ drove it 2 1/2 yrs traded 3 weeks ago W/76kmi. (I commute 53+mi 1 way to work daily) got $21,500 trade-in towards my White Tacoma Access TRD Sport :). I loved the FJ I just don't like getting that close to 100k & wanted the white Tacoma TRD Sport access. They are both great vehicles & are on the same platform.Tacoma is longer & is tighter in garage, back seat in Tacoma is non-useable except storage. FJ can hold 2 adults. I think the Tacoma pulls my 19 1/2' b0at better. More head room & little wider in FJ But I am comfortable in the Tacoma. I had no problem W/visibility in FJ MIRRORS work & the aft side window gives ample viewing.

I have both, dilemma solved! A 2007 FJ with 120,000 miles , reasonably modded, still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I recently got a 2015 DCSB TRD Off-road, now the mod money outflow begins again.

I have have a 2014 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Custom I am modding Just spent $550 in V&H A/C & Fuel Pak3 to re-map the ECM after I put #400+ V&H twin slash oval slip on pies last ye when I bought it. Just did 1k mi oil change to Amsoil full synthetic in all 3 sumps:-0
I am looking into the BAK VP Tonneau for $748. I haven't checked the Tacoma manual yet, but it the engine full synthetic like the 12 FJ was?? Glad to see they put the engine oil filter BACK on top of the engine & not in the plastic housing/element type under fwd skid pan like 12 was!! WTF Toyo engineers?!?!?!?!

I test drove a 2007 today. Everything felt great, very smooth ride. The dealer was tiring to rape me on trade in. I told him my terms and walked away. He told me some garbage like he will be lucky to find someone to buy my truck, blah blah and how he made a few calls around to see what tacomaw were going for. I was insulted when his first offer was $10k for trade in, and they wanted $18k for the fj. he said he would give me a call tomorrow after he "sees what he can do". We will see...

Chevy dealership mind you. I was schooling the salesperson on the fj, he didn't know anything about it. He was taken back by the customer knowin way more about it than he.

I've done it. I sold the Taco to a guy in Mississippi. Now I can really focus on my hunt for an FJ.

I had a pretty basic with Roof Rack & Pwr windows 5spd auto 2008 FJ had it 4yrs 68k mi Traded that one in for a loaded ( - Nav system) 2012. Got $19,500 for the 08 on trade in- traded for a 2012. Traded 12 FJ W/76kmi got 20K for the Tacoma TRD Sport Access. The stereo in the 12FJ was way better, I loved the FJ, handled/rode fine & I drive 60+ mi 1 way to work Hiway/Turnpike/Boulevard.6+yrs of driving 2 different FJ's. Still don't understand Toyota for stop producing them, Can't find them barely on any lot. The Tacoma is nice, ride is great, not as roomy BUT not cramped either. Plenty of Tacoma's out there, not FJ's.Tacoma pulls boat better.FJ had no issues pulling it. I like having the bed WHEN/IF I need it. BAKVP cover makes very useful. Just can't lock it cause of the backup camera. (locks only keep honest people out)Blind spots?? Rear side window works, suicide door window works, rear window works & mirrors work too!! The wife is NOT a pickup truck woman. That's why I bought1st FJ. I might have bought another one if Toyota still made them. I do like the way my White TRD Sport Access looks!!! Not very many around here at all ALOT of double cabs. (Not for me, not a traditional 4 door man) :-0

Access Tacoma is a joke compared to FJ. for a "back seat". I still love both they are what they are :)!!

I'm actually going from an FJ to a Tacoma... our first little one is on the way and I need four doors and a bed. Love my FJ, it is everything everyone has already said, surprisingly quick, good MPG, great on and offroad manners, poor visibility (but you get use to it), etc... everything has a list of pros and cons but right now I need a truck. Only dilemma is do I buy the new 16' or buy a slightly used and keep some $ for mods?... baby is due in January so I have a little time left to decide.

tail gate lock, rear view mirror bracket, hood hinge brackets, and the list grows.
Yep exactly the truth here, my little on was in his car seat when I owned mine once in it was ok but a pain in the ass with the suicide doors.

All of this.... see my post above. I already know that suicide door ain't gonna cut it for a baby in the back. Where i work, nobody wants to take my FJ cause nobody wants to be stuffed back there, can't blame them. Once you get back there its not so bad but that suicide door is the problem. I would say if you had kids 6-13 years old... something like that where they can hop in and out it wouldn't be that big of an issue.

Id like to use this issue to my advantage. Also, i cant wait for the phone calls to end from people always wanting to borrow my truck for the bed. I love helping people out, but being the "friend with a truck" guy got old. They will slowly take advantage of you.
