So i am taking my taco in on friday to be looked at for the suspension TSB. Prior to going in is there anything i should know about before going in? Like anything else that i need to have checked out for the TSB?

I got my appointment tomorrow and I am playing stupid, till they say there is now problem with the springs. Then I pull out the TSB.

I drove the truck around tonight with weight to rub on the bump stops.

Nothing to do prior to going in. If you have read through the TSB you know what is expected. Make sure they do everything listed. I took mine in and they forgot to do the alignment.. A quick phone call dealt with that issue. Make sure you double check their work. Some folks have had the wrong leafs put back on.

Took mine in this week for an "evaluation". (08 trd dc 6spd) They said it wasn't a problem to do the TSB and would order the parts. When I got home, I noticed the part numbers on the list they ordered were the same as the old part numbers. I called them back and they assured me they ordered the new parts with the 4 leaves. We will see, and I will definately have them check before I drive 1 1/2 hours to the dealership.

x2, I also went one step further Will and made them check for the four leaf when the parts arrived. They were insulted but oh well.

I also want to say as I do in all of these threads........everyone needs to remember that the TSB was created because of customer complaint of a 'Harsh Ride'. If your truck is a qualifying truck on the TSB, neither you nor your truck have to prove anything.
Tell them you have had a 'Harsh Ride' and you want this customer generated TSB done for the suspension. They may try to intimidate or scare you. But after that, look at them and smile and ask when will the parts be in.:D

get the alignment report. I didn't and they told me that they did an alignment, but 6 months later, the inside edges of my front tires were bald. They replaced them, but scratched my rim in the process.

Don't waste the time playing dumb..It's insulting to the service folks to try and set them up like that.

Walk in- Say that you had issues with bottoming out and a rough ride. You found this info from the TSB. Work with them from there. You need to make sure they get the right parts- and the more you screw around with them the more frustrated and tired of dealing with the problem everyone will get.

Definitely take a copy of the TSB with you. Also, since you have a TRD, highlight the parts section that shows that the TRD DOES NOT NEED NEW SHOCKS!

You have nothing to prove. Just say it has a harsh ride and that it has bottomed out before.

Have you called them? My dealer didn't have the parts to do mine the first day I took the truck. I had to come back a week later to give them time to order the parts.

Had mine done in San Luis Obispo, Ca. Just picked it up yesterday and it was done right the first time. Joe in the service dept was great. I will say that it looks like the rear of my truck is about 1/2- 1in higher then before but I am sure that the springs will settle some. Anyway rides like a truck now. Not to stiff not to soft just right.
They also fixed some other things on my truck without any hassle at all.

Well they said that no matter what they would have to order the parts, after they look at the truck to see if it qualifies, then they would order the parts. How do i know if the leafs are the correct leafs or not?

if you have 4 leaves, you have the updated ones. If you have 3, they screwed up. You could also have them read you the part numbers

The new ones? Mine still had the label on them when they were installed. Also... before the TSB there were 3 of them, afterwards there were 4. Tht was enough for me.

My dealership scratched my rugged edition rims and i was pissed. I raised hell with them and they said that there was nothing they could do for it and it will happen everytime.

I feel It is not a insult, if they are on the ball than I shouldn't need to tell them about the TSB, thats there job. I told them the problems he said there is no recall for my truck in which I replied what about a TSB to which I received no answer. Will see what happens I forgot the TSB paper at home so I'll bring it in if I have a problem.

Ya know... We live in a different world now.. Think back to how it was before the information age. We were at the mercy of the so called experts. With the tools of the internet we can arm ourselves with information. Sometimes we seem to be more informed then the folks at Toyota. Take the Harsh ride TSB.. If it had not been for this forum I might have remained in the dark about this process. I admit I went to the dealer ready for a fight. After hearing about the troubles many of us have had with trying to get the tsb done. After talking with my service rep for 5 minutes I felt as if I had hit paydirt. They said they would do the work. I did not have to prove my truck was bottoming out. They treated me like an adult! Sadly this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. They called to say it was finished but no mention of an alignment. Armed with the info from this forum and the TSB I had to remind them that they need to do an alignment. A couple hours later and my truck was back where she belongs.. I realize that the reps at Toyota are doing more with less... who isn't. No excuse though. If you have a truck with this issue and it is under warranty and Toyota values you as a customer they should not question your motives for seeking this fix. If you cannot get the help you need from your rep... find another!
