It is a great drive. Me and GF had nothing to do one afternoon and I had looked up the trail through google maps. We were in Oro Valley when we decided to do the trail, we left around 5pm, we got into Oracle and we saw signs that said Mt. Lemmon, from memory, the roads appearred to be correct. So we continue the trip, the sun went down, we were not too sure where we were. We only had the signs to navigate us to the top. We came out near Summer Haven and we came back down on Catalina Highway.

Overall, it was a great trip. I plan to travel around Mt. Lemmon later, especially during the day time to enjoy the view.

BTW, there were some areas where you have to cross some small streams, with my 2WD it was not bad at all.

it really depends which way you go, if you are looking to just stay on the main road up the north side you can do it in 2wd but you should have some clearance, I would not suggest using the family car. If you are looking for some 4wd fun, I went up rice peak the other day all the way to the top before I realized there is no where to turn around once you get there, I was able to after about a 10 point turn or so. must have 4wd for this one. It was a fun ride and what ride isnt with a bit of "oh shit" flowing through your veins.
