Going to ask a dumb question.

I asked this before but got no response. I am dumb when it comes to lighting and electrical so even if this is a waste of kb please answer.

I have a palfrey built bumper coming and have rigid d2 and a sr20 waiting to install (rigid industries). I also have Hellas behind my grill wired to a switch in the cab.

Question. Can I run all the lights to turn on with one switch?

You're most likely going to want each of them on at different times so why put them on the same switch? But in the end, if the switch is rated above the total current draw there shouldn't be a problem. I just wouldn't do it.

 

Hook it up to a relay and then you don't have to worry about the wattage going through the switch. So yes you can.

 

You would be better off installing a relay and have the switch operate the relay.

 

Thanks. I meant to say pelfreybilt. Can't type on this freakin thing. I think they are either all on or all off since none of them are legal to drive unless I am on the back roads. Need all the light I can. Too many close calls with deer and moose going night skiing.

 

They all have individual relays so can I just run them all from each relay and join all the wires together at the cabin switch.

 

Or you can use some diodes and have each on its own switch and a dedicated switch that operates all the relays.

 

Yes. Have the low amp side of the relay on the rigids, be energized by the high side(or low side if you want) of the hellas. Then when you turn on the Hellas, the rigids turn on too.

 

I've got some powered by a relay from my high beams. No switch but on when needed.

 

Don't suppose you can draw a schematic. I have no clue what you are referring to.
