    Should I ask 18,999?

So far this truck has been the lowest priced of it's kind. Apart from buying privately, this truck stands out.

I feel that I'm never going to have luck finding a used low mileage double cab 6 speed manual 1 owner with documented maintenance for a steal price in my part of NY.

    Anybody else think the same?

I say if you want it, and it's all kosher and is going for what they sell for in your area, then buy it.

Dude, if your going to spend $20K, just buy brand new, you wont regret it.

    Pros:
    1-lower rates on your loan
    2-you pick color
    3-you are original owner
4-loan period can be longer like 72 mo to bring down payment
    5-warranty is longer

    Cons:
    1-more exspensive

Really think about it man. I paid $28000 out the door for my 2010 TRD Sport Quad 4x4 Auto in Feb. I am SURE you can find a dealer that will sell you a manual left on the lot for the same or slightly cheaper. Even if you have to fly out somewhere to get it, you know it's worth it, because it's new.

    Do the following:
Write an email about what truck you are looking for, and how much you are willing to spend. Copy and paste it to a bunch of emails and send them to a bunch of dealers. This is what I did, and I finally found one that was willing to negotiate down. It's worth a shot. And I only paid 7K more then you are going to pay for BRAND NEW.

The price of a new one would be way out of my ability to afford. I'm going to be trading in my Saturn SL2 with 100,000 miles and putting a down payment of 2k. I know it's not much more than buying new but buying new is just too much money, and this car is being co-signed by my parents.

I'm going to take the longest pay period possible, either 60 or 72 months. My dad will be co-signing and that will be what makes it even possible for me to afford the truck in the first place.

I'm trying to keep my monthly payments under 300 a month... because I still have to pay car insurance. I also go to community college at the same time.

I know theirs a lot of incoming "why are you buying a truck go to college drive a beater etc".

It is going to be very difficult to stay under $300. You wont stay under $300 even at 20K

Wow you guys are some negative...not everyone can get the homie hookup or deal of the century.

What are the other trucks in your area going for?

Put donw a good payment and you should be able to be at $300 a month provided you get a good interest rate. I paid $19K otd for mine and I have a 75 month loan at $335 a month. If you can trade in your car and pay $2k as a down payment then that should keep you under $300 a month. I say go in there and offer them something a little lower and see if they will work with you.

Yeah, 20k vs. 28k is a big difference. It's really not comparable at all. Sure, it's nice to buy new, but when you think about it, 25k miles on a Toyota is really nothing. That's only five oil changes.

That being said, most of the used Tacos I see are priced almost as new. Seems like dealers think they are made of gold.

    Update everybody:

I went to the dealer and took it for a test drive.

They offered me 1500 trade in for my Saturn SL2 with 92,000 miles. Which I think is bullshit.

They would not negotiate on the price any further. Final price 19,995

    6.49% APR at 72 months = $329 a month

    What do you guys think?

I think at this point if it's somthing you really want, then go for it. I still think it's a little high.

You could always toss the Saturn on craigslist and see what you can get?

But at this point, it sounds like your heart is set on this truck, so just go with your gut.

I did. I might get 3k for it.

As far as the numbers go... what I calculated tells a different story.

Should I print this out and bring it?

Don't trade your car in at the dealer. They won't give you jack. Sell it in the autotrader or on craigslist. FYI I paid $15k for my 05 last year with 60k miles.

OP the dealers numbers do seem a little steep. but I'm with Masada, if you love it, buy it. You'll just end up hating what ever vehicle you end up "settling" for.

    I paid 20500 for a 2007 DC OR with 39k. I got 4.9 for 72 months.
