Still haven't clay barred yet. Been crazy bust but things should slow down after next week.

In the Meguires kit, I use the qwik detailer for the lubricant as I am claying, right? The spray that came with it?

You'll love the results.. just make sure to wash and dry first... and be careful not to run into any dirty spots where the clay may pick up some crud you missed while washing. Common sense really... and don't drop the clay ! hah
    Good luck.. its worth it!

Here is a crappy cell phone picture. The truck literally feels like glass! I have never had it looking or feeling this good! I am going to do my wife's Camry and my dad's 07 4runner.

    stock, for now
I need to do mine again..its like night and day difference. Last year when i first got my 05 I clayed, then used a high speed buffer to compound, then used my orbital to wax. oh man was that truck slick. I need to do it again as soon as the sap from these dang oak trees stops falling.

Okay friends, wish me luck, I am going to do the whole wash-clay-polish-wax routine tomorrow for the first time. I am also a teacher and am bored crapless so this is my project for the weekend. I'll take pics of the before and after so you all can see.

    I have three questions:
    1) Do I need to wash the car again after claying? Some website I read said pro detailers do this and I was just wondering. And I KNOW someone out there will have an opinion! :p
    2) Not that I'm in a hurry, but how long does this whole wash-clay-polish-wax thing take? 4 hours? 2 days? The entire summer?
    3) How long can I reasonably expect this treatment to last? My truck sits outside and is driven daily. We will be taking it on a 5,000+ mile road trip in July.

I have a black 01 and I don't have my mud flaps on ad I have road paint spots along the bottom of my truck. I've been told a clay bar can get it off. Is this true?

I washed, pulled it in the garage and dried it, clayed it, and waxed it in about three hours. I may have done it wrong but I did not polish.

Couldn't hurt to try. Just make sure you wash it really good!

1)honestly, I wish I did when doing my wife's car. the lighting in my garage is dim and when I was claying, I guess I didn't wipe all the leftover spray. proceeded to wax and once done and back in the daylight, I noticed a swirly haze underneath the wax.

    2) when I did her car, took about 4 hours to wash, clay and wax. didnt polish since it didn't really need it.

    3) maybe you'd want to wait until after the long trip, this way, you can get all those crazy bugs and whatever other road crap you pick up along the way off. I know that all 3 times I have driven cross country, no matter which part of the country I was in, there was at least some sort of road construction (=road tar :( )

Thanks guys for the advice. I'll see how I feel after I clay it (meaning, how much extra crap I feel like going through) to see if I wash it again.

It's a brand new truck so I thought the first time I did it, I'd go through the whole 4 step cycle.
