What a luxury. I get up and start working before sun up and am not finished until sun down. On my days off I spend with family, catching up on chores and hitting the desert or golfing. Maybe when I'm retired and my wife's tired of me I can spend a good few hours detailing her up

Ya you can pay for however many you want but only two are free.

"ToyotaCare covers normal factory scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first."

Not sure how much of a detail. My dealer does an exterior wash. Have an automated car wash thing they run it through before they drive it back into the service writer area.

all they do is rotate the tires and overinflate them. usually they scratch the hell out of my center caps on my wheels too because they refuse to remove them before blasting them with an impact.

You should avoid the dealer at all cost, you are not required to use a dealer for your service. Only use them for any warranty work.

Find a local, honest & reputable shop for your routine service and build a relationship with them. They'll be happy to have a new customer and you'll be happy to have someone you can trust that will not only take good care of your vehicle but will also treat your wallet right. And you might even make some new friends.

It's free in the Toyota care. Why pay someone to check fluids and rotate tires? Hardly brain surgery of automotive repair.

Guess where those independent techs learn? Dealers. You're getting the same guy but often without the dealer support or up to date specifics on TSB's and issues. And you're paying for it when he doesn't have to under Toyota care.

I don’t plan on rotating my OEM tires. I kind of want them to wear down quickly/warp so I can justify getting the tires I want.

I had my 10K service done last week. I took the skid plate off prior so I could check afterward. Sure enough, a small oil leak around filter.

No obvious defect or cause, other than the filter housing was tighter than spec. when I loosened it. I doubt that would have caused the leak...?

The oil level was OK. I cleaned the oil off, took it for a short drive, and parked it overnight. There was more oil around the filter housing rim the following morning. I removed it and replaced the gasket and filter and tightened to spec. It's alright now.

Although I did not find anything blatant to cause the oil leak, what got me to say never again were the clips for the air filter were not placed back on and secured, and the red plastic cover was not placed back over the positive battery terminal (after they tested the battery which was part of the service). I should have lifted the hood before I left the dealer.

I contacted the dealer by email and included photos and later a phone call, but no response. I suppose they figured if they acknowledge me, they are admitting guilt and it's better and less risky to just ignore it.

I am done with any dealer service regardless that it is free and will never go again unless it is a major warranty issue I am unable to fix myself and it is too expensive.

I wouldn't waste my time driving to the dealer at 5000 miles even if it were free. My time is worth more than they will do. Now if you really were at 1/2 million miles maybe.

Could be residual from them not doing a good job cleaning the housing. Hose it off with break clean and see if it returns.

Depends on the time. If it's 12 months (in my case) or close they change the oil and filter, rotate the tires, all of the fluid check stuff, a quickie car wash and give you coffee and doughnuts.

Glad I did, I don't ever make it to the Eastside of town. Both Toyotas are there and the others in New Mexico. Got to hit a restaurant I love and stop at a store I've been wanting to check out so it all worked out. Normally, no I would not be intrigued to drive over there
