Just reading throught the threads on the D ring install as I am going to do it. Seems like the army surplus ones won't swivel unless you do a mod, as I read somewhere on here, but what about the ones from trdparts4u and the OEM ones? Would they swivel, or is modification also required for these, also? The rings are super cheap from army surplus!

The ones from trdparts4u are the OEM ones. And they do swivel a bit, actually mine swivel easier than the factory ones near the tailgate. Only regret I have is not buying another pair for the middle bed bolts.

D-Rings that swivel like factory!! See below.
As I was thinking about adding more d-rings to my 2012 TAco to tie shit down with my engineering mind came up with this,
    1. Remove the front bed bolts.
    2. Measure the bolts O.D.
    3. Buy steel pipe that will freely slip over the bolts.
    4. Drill out the d-rings slightly bigger than the pipe O.D.
    5. Cut pieces of the pipe that are 1/32" thicker than the d-rings.
    6. Place a piece of pipe in the d-ring, slip the bolt thru the piece and
    install.
    7. Enjoy, Done deal.
Since I'm an engineer and a machinist, I made my own pipe pieces on an engine lathe. I just turned the O.D. on a piece of bar stock smaller than the I.D. drilled in the d-ring, drilled and bored the I.D. bigger than the bolts O.D. and cut them of with a cutoff blade.
    Tools Needed;
Dial Calipers or Verneers to measure O.D. and I.D.
Breakover handle w/ wrench to fit bolts.

I just want the double check a couple things before I order. The dodge rings are called "ring, ring retainer", right? And these swivel and don't need any modification to fit using the bed bolts? And are these loud or louder than the factory d rings?

You guys need to get some air tools..... and impact gun... and those bolts come out easily.

We did this mod about a month ago. Added 4 extra d-rings. Bought the drings from http://www.armysurpluswarehouse.com/
Impulse Red posted a link - but for some reason, that link isn't working today. I tired searching and it keeps bumping me back to their host server page. They were cheap and very good quality.

I ordered the dodge ones and they don't swivel. Perhaps a different part number? So, if I feel energetic I'll make up sleeves so I can swivel them...otherwise they are getting bolted in tight! Seem like a good quality part anyway. Not sure what the load rating is.

If you enter "Dodge 05104500AA" into your search window you can find sites that will take you directly to the Dodge D-rings. Dodge uses a bushing like "tacopoker" made above, allowing the D-ring to swivel.

Dodge Bushing PN "05104544AA" Cost $2.31 each

With even more rattle. Is there a situation where a non-swiveling D-ring would prevent you from securing a load?
