I had a bad motorcycle accident in my early 20's and jacked my left knee up, I like MT's but just can't do it.

6spd MT is also not an option with the 6' bed he's after...

Then yeah, go get in one and enjoy a lengthy drive. Get a passenger to sit in the back, get on it on a hill etc

And make sure you check out the volume button on the steering wheel...it’s been known to be a YUUUUUGE deal to some people. Have fun brah:D

At the last minute when you finally have the deal you want, make them throw in a bed mat. I always do that. Works every time for me - sometimes the salesman even pays for it. I guess paying cash is always helpful for me, too. Sure makes the "finance" department quicker.

Yes, walking away generally helps quite a bit.
Actually financing often increases your bargaining position as dealers typically make $$ off the financing reducing amount they have to make off sale.

I don't purchase extended warranties and it's always worked to my advantage in the vehicles I've owned, especially my Toyotas.

I'm doing the same thing tommorrow. I have 1:30 pm appointment for a test drive.

I'm not sure what an "extended test drive" is. Seems to be mandatory here that the salesman rides along. 30 years ago they used to just hand over the keys, now they want to come along. Anyhow thanks to browsing TW I'm going in with a whole page of "deal breakers and a closed mind" lol.

Interesting thing about financing and deals. I bought a rav limited in 2018 and I was initially buying it cash but I got a better deal financing 10k for a year. They get a kick back on financing I guess. Anyway, after a years interest I still came out a few hundred ahead vs. cash.

To my fellow Canadians, how much of a discount have you been able to negotiate on new Tacoma's ? :canada:

If I sell both my current trucks I would have to finance roughly $10K so that may help me

The one listed with a 6' bed only has 3 stock pictures, none of the actual truck and it's at a different car lot. It is cement as well.

Before you finalize a deal, be sure to ask the salesman for all the fees they charge. Document fees, inventory tax, etc. For mine, the document fee was $150 and the inventory tax was $75 (I got them to remove the inventory fee). These fees were reasonable, but some dealers try to gouge you once you get to the finance office. So I paid the negotiated price + $150 doc fee + TTL.

I bought my 2019 (AT) OR 4X4, Double cab Short bed new in Jan of 19...I have almost 50K on it now. The size of the vehicle is perfect for my needs. I truly enjoy the vehicle, it's very capable driving around our horse farm and along or trails, it's comfortable to and from my main office (120 mile roundtrip commute through rural mountainous/hilly terrain) and I would buy the exact truck all over again. We currently have 4 vehicles and my wife trades hers often (she prefers luxurious and high end more than me, LOL), so I do buy for her often. Most recently I've used the USAA car buying service (I think it is tru Car), it's served me well to promote competition between dealerships. I look at quite a few dealerships, and since I do business all over anyway, I'm willing to drive for a deal. I email/call a bunch of dealerships and negotiate the best deal before driving to the dealership - some dealerships will not do this, and that's Ok because others will. I may lose out by not driving to those dealerships and spending time dealing in person, but I'm older and at my age/stage of life I'm not willing to sit and go back and forth in a car dealership for hours. I've always been able to get in and out of the dealership within an hour ( granted I'm not financing - back when I did I usually secured a loan at our CU/bank). We have had a bunch of cars and unlike 30-40 years ago I never fall in love with a car - so I'm not emotionally connected. I also am never in a hurry to buy, and if I cant not find the deal I want, I'll wait. I believe 12-14% off is a very good deal, and one I can live with (with these trucks...my wife's last car was a GM and that is a totally different animal). I wish you well in your search - I believe these little trucks are the best value out there (relatively speaking).

I originally was convinced I needed the 6' bed...and then they came out with the Army Green TRD Pro and I decided I really didn't need it. :) Honestly, for my use hauling some bags of mulch or salt for the water softener, stuff like that, the 5' bed will be just fine.

I’m not stuck on having to get a 6’ bed. I have a 5’ now and it seams short because the toolbox. Only reason I have the toolbox is because the 1st gens have zero storage inside the cab. I’ve got ratchet straps and clothes in the toolbox, it won’t be going on the new one.
