I second what was said about the financing part. I'd see what deal they give you by letting them finance, and then just pay off the note (or most of it) when the first payment is due. They would likely be willing to give you a better sale price because they think they'll make the money back via interest payments. Just make sure there are no early payment penalties, which are complete BS!!

As for the extended warranty, yes these are fantastic Toyota trucks but they are also packed with all sorts of crazy electronics that can act finicky. Just don't cave in to the dealer's pressure to get an extended warranty then and there unless they give you a really great deal on one. Take your time to shop around on that as you can always buy one up until you hit the 3yr/36k mark. This will also give you time to get a better feel for the truck and decide if you really do want one. After having some issues taken care of within the factory warranty period, I just recently bought one for my 2018 and it had 35,900 miles on it.

I went from a SB to a LB. You honestly have the best of both worlds right now with the two trucks you have, but if you're compromising down to one truck I'd say LB. Size matters contrary to public opinion. (If you use it as a truck)

I started with the bed length as priority, then color, off road package because of the rear locker, tech/premium because I wanted leather seats (kids). I also called multiple dealers to get a quote on the exact truck that I wanted, and I used the lowest number as a starting point. I let them know they were competing for my business. I'd call my wife each time they came back at me, and say to them, "she said no, we need the payment to be below this number to afford the monthly payment". I held out until the manager finally stepped in to lower the price to meet that payment point. No add-ons whatsoever. I went in at the very end of the month (quotas), earlier in the day so I could negotiate. GL!

Don't just assume you have maps included with your nav system, some guys bought new trucks and found out that maps weren't included even though they had head-units with the nav feature button.
Tacoma2GR reported this - Does anyone know if the navigation could be added on the new 8 inch 2020 radio?
My trd sport didn’t come with navigation but i have the map button.
It just says maps no installed.

    Good luck with your purchase!

My wife would say, don't worry honey, buy truck, it's the one you like! I'd go back to the dealer, guys I'm sorry, unfortunately she said no, we can't do it unless the payments are below this number...

They must be hungry. I sent an email to 2 different dealers inquiring about price and had to put my phone number in as well. I've gotten 5 calls in 10 minutes, none of which I have answered because I have been too busy texting back and forth with them. End of month but I'm not ready to buy......yet.

Pick the truck you want and then start emailing dealers about out the door pricing. Send the lowest offer you receive to the other dealers and keep doing that until you end up where no one will beat that price. Never negotiate by monthly payment, or include a trade in on your deal. I never discuss anything else with dealers except the out the door price. If they want to play games and use financing as leverage find another dealership. I walked in to the dealer I bought mine with an OTD price already agreed on. Test drove the exact truck I was buying to make sure it didn't have any issues and bought it. I already had my loan with my credit union and they did the paperwork for my credit union to be the lender. Good luck and enjoy your new truck.

I have a wife that was working for a Toyota dealership as the head of accounting. My youngest daughter also worked at the dealership running the BDC department. With that said....

Best chance of a good deal is to go for the financing option. There is money made on the "back end" through the finance office. You do not have to buy gap, undercoating, paint protection etc at all. 90% of these items are HUGE markup and low value items adding nothing to the long term value f the car. Not to mention most of it can be done later on your dime for a BIG savings.

Calculate your payment yourself, put a small amount down. They will be drooling over the back end points they will "earn". They will tell you how they like you and are looking out for you; they got you a great deal; most folks get x, y, or z and you NEED them too. Do not delay the 1st payment past 45 days.

Negotiate hard against any add-ons you do not want. Tell them to pull it off the truck or not either way it comes off the deal or I go somewhere else you want my business but I do not NEED you or the <whatever is on the truck you do not want>. Be aware there are a few things that Toyota packages together removing options such as moon roofs, nanny options, etc. You can see these by "building" you truck at Toyota.com

When your first payment is due-ish pay your money gained from selling the other trucks less any "required" items for your new truck. You will have the truck mostly paid, they will get charged back or just not receive their back end points as you just wiped them out.

    OR

Finance it at your bank AFTER you leave the dealership where they financed it at a possibly higher rate than the bank. You can put your truck "nest egg" in as down payment a the bank or credit union to significantly reduce the loan and term. Again with this model the dealership looses most of the back end, you get the truck you want and save cash.

    Best of luck!!!

Check this out. $199 for clear something door protection and $399 for tint. No thanks on both. This is on the off road one.

We financed what we didn't put down on the Suburban through GM to get an extra GM discount, the only stipulation was we had to make 6 payments before we could refinance somewhere else. After the 6th payment we went to our bank and refinanced through them. It cut our interest rate almost in half, took an additional 6 months off our loan and lowered our monthly payment by $45. Saved us over $8,000 for refinancing.
