Thanks guys, we could sit here and debate manual/auto all day...but the bottom line is it comes down to personal preference.

AT is not finicky. I've driven manual my entire life up until I bought my 2015 tacoma last spring. Came as auto. I was not sure what I was doing. I dig it. I am not gonna argue one over the other, but just to say that they are both awesome.

Without getting personal can I ask how much cheaper it was than a new one? Or did you specifically want a 2nd Gen?

Main reason I ask is I looked until I was blue in the face for a decent used one down here and I absolutely could NOT find a deal. 3-5 year old trucks with 50-100k miles were anywhere from $4-8k off a new one, price wise. I absolutely could not fathom that.

A 1 year old with those miles near here would sell for within $2k of new. Blew my mind. I ended up with a new one, then traded for a year newer one a year and a half later at 39,850 miles. For $5100. Tax, fees, and all. Out the door. I thought they were stupid to do it.

Oh, and btw nice looking truck (I have identical in AT) and glad you like it.

A couple things went into my decision: First being I didn't want the first model year of a new tacoma. Maybe 3 or 4 years down the road, but I'm always weary of buying the first model year of any car. Secondly, even though I wanted a 2nd gen, I still shopped the price I was getting this one at to see if any local dealers could get close on a 2016 - no one was able to come within $4k for a comparable model (DCSB OR M/T 4x4).

I got this truck for $30k, ($318xx OTD). It's a one owner truck, bought and kept in the southeast. There is some minor wear on the drivers seat (no rips or tears, just the texture of the fabric is rough), there is a tiny little dent on the bottom of the drivers door which you can only see if you squint your eyes and the light it hitting it just right, and the back of the center console has a nice scratch on it. Other than that, this truck is in perfect condition. I shopped around for quite a few months looking for this truck (White DCSB OR M/T 4x4) and this was by far the cheapest I found. Most places wanted $33 +ttl. NADA book on my truck is $33k, so I pretty much have instant equity.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase and look forward to owning this truck!

If your happy with the truck, it was a good decision. You really seem content with your new purchase :).

X2 and I DEFINITELY agree with never buying the first year of any significantly changed model. I was in the John Deere business for 20 years and EVERY TIME we had model changes the first year or a significant portion of it was ALWAYS a screw up. Didn't matter how simple or complex the changes were, something always seemed to be an issue.
