These two fellas know their business for sure! And I find them both entertaining (in small doses).

    Came back early.

Unfortunately couldn't get proper flow over my sluice.

Also had some weird naked miner staring at me. Not sure where he came from.

Decided to call it a day

    Yup...

Doesn't help I slipped while trying to setup the sluice, fell into the water and sliced my thumb pretty deep, 1/4 to 1/2" lol.

Some other dude walked up to say hi and saw me soaking wet, dripping blood, with a naked crazy dude staring at me.

He peaced out as well hahaha

I got some pans in last weekend up in Stanislaus. Found a few flakes, nothing big but still was fun!

Is this thread still a thing? I'd love to get into this since I don't fish on camping trips...

I’m thinking of going this weekend up to the mountains. Maybe around pinecrest area for a couple days. Don’t want to work so figured it’ll be juce up there if anyone wants to tag along with a white guy and his vertically challenged girlfriend

Has anyone tried panning out by Union Valley reservoir area? I’m out meeting a few different groups of friends in the area and have some free time between crushing and driving around dirt roads to chill in some streams

I've never been to the reservoir but I do like the area. It sucks that it's 5 hours drive for me. Do you know if there are claims being worked in the area?

I didn’t see any current ones in the area on the BLM or other websites but was hoping someone tried something out while camping since it seems pretty popular around here. I did see one place that had a gold ‘occurrence’ but that was back in the 80s

Small update, I’ve been out at a few streams and one big river so far and have checked a few nice sized crevices, a few bends, and a nice amount of bedrock in the river. Not a speck to be found. I found some very rough black sand and a few pieces of lead and one nail piece possibly. I am wondering if I might be up too high in elevation?

So I wound up spending about 3 days at a creek and dug out about of a quart worth of concentrates and was playing around with them. The black sand is magnetic so I just used my neodymium magnet to separate that from the rest of the pan. Made it so easy. Should have just brought this out with me to do it in the field. Just a few colors as I was expecting out of this batch but the black sand was cool to separate out
