Hey guys, can't really find any help on gold panning/prospecting here in az. I called the BLM office a couple of times but they just put me on hold and don't pick up. I'm looking at going up near Prescott or just south of. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I've lived here a few years but only panned/dredged when I lived in Colorado. Let me know!

I'm up in Prescott. I've asked around to some locals who pan. What I've been told: BLM: OK w/ panning NOT large equipment dredging. Along the "Wild & Scenic" section of the Verde may be a no-no. Land Trust is a no, but maybe with a permit? Not sure.

One if our artists at the shop my buddy runs, pulled me to the creek behind the shop. He spent about 5-6 minutes at a natural sluice in the creek panning away as I looked on. And if I weren't damned, he pulled about two drams of flake out the creek.

    Good luck.

Just be cafefull. A lot of the AZ land is under claims already. Best thing to do is research a panning club in your area and join it. Let them teach you where to go. I got introuble one time metal detecting and panning on someone's claim that I had no idea was a claim.
