7-woods are thing of a the past. I don't even carry a 5-wood actually, just a 3-wood and my aforementioned 2-iron hybrid. The 2-hybrid gets me out of all sorts of trouble that a 5-wood can't.

i will say the hybrids arent for everyone but if you can hit them they will be your best friend with a good drive and a 3hybrid getting on is def doable

If you are an 8 handicap then disregard my statement about Titleist and Mizuno irons.

overall they are the best i have used. i have had old Tommy Armour before they were crap, Callaway X-16s, and Titleist DCI. cleveland is much better quality

stick with steel shafts, get 4-pw or 4-gw, cleveland irons tend to be strong lofted. the PW's are only 45- 46 degrees, thats closer to a 9 iron than PW, it makes it seem like you hit them longer than your buddies thats for sure.

i just got CG-7 tour irons. i have only played 2 rounds with them, its cold up here in connecticut.

i had Launcher LP irons and loved those, i actually still have them in case i dont like the CG7's. so far there not a big difference. you can get a set of these for under $300

As a former Golf Pro. my best advise is to find a pro in your area and go hit a bunch of clubs. Find what works for you and then let the pro fit you. It doesn't cost anymore for the irons to be made or adjusted to your specs. If you want to buy elsewhere just take your specs with you.

There are a lot of great clubs out there now. Off the top of my head, the Taylormade Burner series, Callaway 22's or the new Callaway Razr line, and Adams has some sweet irons out this year. My handicap is up to an 8 these days and I am loving my TaylorMade 2.0 irons, R11 Driver, and Rescue 11 hybrid.

Maybe there are some demo days coming to your area. Fun way to try new sticks and get on the launch monitor.:D
