The install process for the tailgate is similar to the door cup guards.

Highly recommended that you have an extra set of hands to make the process go by quicker.

Please make sure the surface is clean before application and keep it both the film and surface area wet until you are sure of placement prior to edging out the remaining soapy solution. **Keeping it moist helps with positioning the film in place**

Once the film is where you want it, start squeezing/edging the soapy solution.

People need to treat the paint protection film just like paint. Clean it, clay bar, wax it and seal it. If you do all these things, high-quality products like XPEL will last beyond their guaranteed life span.

 

I installed the 'works' (lol) on my truck. The door cup guards were sort of easy, but I still managed to install them a bit crooked... Oh well. Good thing they are almost invisible!

Tailgate guard was a different story. First off, as mentioned before in thread, it is too long (~60") and has to be cut short. I cut mine down to 56", but OP should cut it for us at 56 1/8" for even fit.

^ I took off plastic tailgate edge guard (or whatever it's called), and installed Xpel guard underneath. It's 1/8" short on pass side, but I have to look for it.
Under normal conditions, the film is pretty much invisible.

 

Is any one able to provide a picture of the tailgate letter inserts? Gloss/reflective?

OP you should update your original post with tailgate photos, I had to dig around to find photos.

 

@FtApache: I see you liked @BastekFX's post and feedback on the Tailgate strip. Are you planning to adjust the strip size so the end user doesn't need to manually trim the product?

@sigrooms tailgate strip will be trimmed only if requested by buyer, otherwise, it's 4" x 60"

It was left at 60" instead of trimming it to the exact size of the tailgate so that the end user has wiggle room during install.

You think these will hold up during a pressure wash? I use a pressure washer when I wash my truck !

 

Absolutely!!!*

*As long as you wash your truck before you put these on and wait at least 4 days for it to cure before going to town with the pressure washer .
