My neighbor has gone through two sets of ome coils a d both sagged. They weight load is less too and but it did ride nice. He is back on some factory coils now.

Yes your butt is calibrated to be scientific. It’s physics man, they might be similar but the higher you set them means more preload. I have no input on how your trucks ride. Just replied to the statement that the ride is the same at different heights.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I never said anything about you or your truck. Facts are facts and preloading a spring to gain ride height changes the ride quality.

The spring height should also change with the clip position raising or lowering the truck.
The spring should stay same dimension. Same spring dimensions should yield same ride quality.

Ok thanks for your input. Like I said we can go back and forth all day long and that’s a fact. I’m perfectly fine with my setup. Different strokes for different folks.

What tires do you run? I have 10 ply sidewalls with an OME lift of about 1.5" with nitrocharger shocks. My stiff tires make for a rough ride at highway pressure. I am also sprung for my loaded weight of 6000-6500lb so the ride is stiff empty. Airing down makes the truck float on rough tracks. 30psi is where it starts to get acceptable on rough gravel roads. Super comfortable at 20 psi on rough mountain passes, and still easily can handle the load at typical offroad speeds. I'll drop to 15 psi on really rocky or soft tracks. I air down for comfort long before I think I need it to protect the tires or get more flotation. 12 psi is the design point for armored vehicles. That is the magic number that will make your truck go anywhere an Abrams can go (short of getting hung up in the middle). Aim for that in soft sand. Spend hundreds on the compressor before spending thousands on the shocks.

Yes ok, doesn't matter because people are going to do what they want anyhow. If I'm happy that's all that matters, not debating this dead issue. We all have opinions and that's what I see in your response

It’s unclear what you are saying is impossible, but I think what you are saying is that it is impossible that increased preload does not make the suspension “stiffer”. If so, I do not agree with you completely. Preload does not affect the spring rate. Regardless of preload, the spring will compress the same under a given load, ie it will be no more stiffer. Other things do change though. The ride height increases thus down travel decreases and up travel increases. Additionally, the compression on the spring at full droop increases. All of these can affect the ride quality, but the term “stiffer” is probably not particularly accurate.

Are you sure? I’ve never owned bilistein 5100’s but have always assumed that all adjustable coil overs use preload to change ride height. I don’t think the total length of the coil over can be increased more than about an 1” and even that requires an aftermarket UCA with enough clearance. See Fox, Icon, and King extended travel coil overs for an example.

Uh no. The top hat of the strut is constant, when you move the clip up you have to compress the spring more to get it on. The spring length is always the same, the amount you have to compress it (preload) is determined by which clip you chose. The reason you get lift by moving the clip up is because you have preloaded the spring more so the weight of your truck doesn’t compress it as much.

I didn’t give you any input on your truck or anything. I stated that the ride changes as more preload is put on a strut. This has nothing to do with you or your truck. Glad you like your truck and suspension.

    I love the internet.

I think everyone on this thread means well but there is some misinformation.

Call Headstrong, Wheelers, or best the manufacture.

100% with you. I think at the end of the day. As long as we are happy with ours set ups that’s all that really matters. I also understand members know a lot of specific things about lifts. I appreciate that. Cause at the end of the day if we where sitting around bullshitting on some trail having beers and smoking weed talking about our set ups.

Maybe consider Eibach stage II adjustable coilover kit, adjustable from 0-2.75 inches according to Eibach

Not sure if you're still looking for a kit but I have a Fox TRD Pro setup from my 2018 Pro (shocks, leaf springs, clamps, bushings etc) that I need to clear out of my garage. I've heard both 1" and 1.5" is the lift over stock for this setup. Cannot confirm either. PM if interested. I dont have enough posts here to put it on the for sale page yet.
