35s, lots of parts. 4.88s (before 5.29s were even offered), OTT tuned.
    I take this booger everywhere

    Alcan.
I had OME Dakar with the extra overload for a few years..chattered like crazy, and just got tired (could no longer support the weight thus saggy diaper)

I asked Alcan to make a 6” spring 650lb capacity. They recommended a 5” but I wanted a 1” rake when loaded for camping, helping to keep my steering wheels planted and not floating down the highway.
The above picture has two 150qt coolers fully loaded with block ice, about 30 gallons of water in containers, spare 35 and carrier weigh roughly ~180 lbs —- and I still have a slight rake.
drives like a freaking dream when I go camping. Rides like shit empty bed but I don’t daily the truck so that’s why I made the decisions as that

    To OP’s original question.
THERE IS NO GOOD 6” LIFT out of the box.

YOU, the user, need to add shit to it to actually get it right.

To do a 6” lift properly, it’s gonna cost more than what is advertised in a basic kit. Get rid of the barrel spacers for the front, get rid of the block and AAL, and upgrade all the shocks that don’t come with the main kit.
Bilstein offers a full length strut for the front to ditch the barrels, and it’s a shit ton cheaper than a full coilover. It’ll do the job up until a certain point.
I use them with an OME 888 coil. They ride decent, but definitely heat up and fatigue after crawling on lava rock for 30-45 minutes (technically that’s a lot of cycling, but whatever, I air down to help alleviate that).

I'll soon be doing a 4" db kit. I currently have a 2" lift and it works great but I swear I can feel and hear the front suspension hit full down travel bump stops when I hit a decent bump on the trail or on the highway. Unless that noise is something else... The 4" kits retain factory geometry so you don't sacrifice down travel for up travel so I'd imagine it would eliminate that. Any of you guys run both types of suspension? Does one perform better in your opinion?

What 2” lift do you have? Spacer lift? If so, spacer lifts will do that. Accutune had a good article on why

I used to run OME 3” with OME Dakar leaf pack. Broke a front strut - and a lot of good fishing/camping grounds I needed the additional height (of the truck). So I went 6” and down the rabbit hole of that

    IMG_0355.jpg

Never have I ever heard a girl ask for a 3” sub

ouch!... I've got an OME 2 inch heavy coil front lift. no spacers front or rear. I did a little more digging and now i'm wondering if my lower strut bolt on the LCA has slop. my previous coils were Bilstein 5112 and they made no weird noises.

could always go over the shock bolts and check their torque. could also be the shock not having enough down travel like you said. Orrrrr….could’ve separate the shaft like how I did my Bilstein. I had them on the truck for 500 miles, 3 months, and it broke.
Of all the trucks I’ve had, and all of my friends, that was the only one to ever have done that. I take it more of a defect than an issue of the brand. Cause I’ve been using Bilstein full length struts for the past 7 years for the 6” and it’s been great

I don’t have experience with OME struts, I ran bilsteins with my OME 888 coil.

Yeah I'll have to dig into that and see... That's the move I feel. Bilstein makes good shocks I'll probably do that set up with my 4" kit in the future.

You'll know you're hitting the downtravel stops if it feels like the front of the truck is being yanked downward (usually with a thump) as you crest over a mound or hump, or drop off into into a low spot. DBs certainly will help with that.

WTF? Did that unthread itself from the piston? o_O

I figured it would be more violent that makes sense. Must be a loose bolt or something i'll have to look.

What you are experiencing is probably your front shocks topping out (running out of downtravel) Is it like a “thud” that you are feeling?

Which 2” lift are you running?

I know I said this before but I’m not a fan of 6” lift kits but your truck looks fucking beautiful! The stance is perfect IMO.

    Mahalo Serge!

Lol had I known what I know now, I would’ve done mid travel instead

At least you have it. Isn’t there a backorder on some of the parts related to the kit that’s why?
