I found this 1998 Tacoma one of my friend’s is selling it to me for $2500 but I’m not sure if it’s a good buy it’s a 4 banger 2.4 with a manual transmission only thing is it has about 457xxx miles on it but it still runs strong and interior is pretty bad and it’s a Salvage title. Would it be a good truck to build for off road and can I still add a locking differential?

Wrong truck to buy if you want to off-road. You need a 4x4 or PreRunner. The 5-lugs have virtually zero aftermarket support when it comes to lifts. They’re out there, but lifting a 4x4 or PreRunner is 100x easier.

    Keep looking.

I also suspect that’s been rear ended by the lack of a bumper.

I ran the license plate number through THIS WEBSITE; Passed its last smog test in October 2017; Specifically, it shows that it failed at 11:32am on October 21st and then passed less than an hour later...
