I'm picking up my brand new dinosaur on Monday and hope to keep it for 20 to 25 years. Had my last Toyota pickup which I sell Tuesday for 15 years myself and it is a 23 year old truck. I'm with you, nothing wrong with dinosaur in my book!

But the mid-size market really is different from the full-size market right now. Mid-size you've got Tacoma, which while "old" at the moment isn't any worse than the Frontier leaving you the as yet unproven Colorado/Canyon if you want "new". Over in full-size land you've got the respectable if a bit dated Tundra but it is up against a bunch of new to proven domestic competition. So while I have trouble considering moving from a Tacoma to another mid-size I can completely understand moving away from Toyota for a full size. And I could understand going to a Tundra as well, depends on the user, but the point is there are far more viable options in the full size market in the US.

I almost got this 2006 Ford F-250 with only 25k mi. on it but I couldn't agree on price with the guy and there were a couple red flags that made me uncomfortable, but it was a gorgeous looking blue/light blue two tone truck. Glad I got stuck with the Tacoma and got another one but it was a tough decision. It seems like it would be nice to have a full-size truck but I really don't need it.

good luck with your new ride..
I am planning to keep my taco for a long time.. just depends how things goes down the road. I brought the taco for few main reasons. 1) idea truck for me where I don't haul heavy stuff daily. 2) not bad gas mileage 3) don't carry other folks 4) less money to spend on matenice compared to full size.
I was brought up on full size trucks, learn to drive it, got my driver permit , work on job using full size trucks ( 1 tons). miss it? yup might go back.. maybe when I retire from my main job then go another job then get a full size.
    my 2 cents

Had a dodge dually 4wd , cummins engine for 7 years, never had a problem with it. The down side, imterior did not hold up well, clear coat started pealing off, typical of dodge trucks around here, good luck!
