Good cv axle

    Needing recommendations for new cv axles. oem is to expensive for me don’t really want to rebuild either just want to install and be done.i do have a 3inch lift on the truck.

    If you have OEM axles currently, make sure you keep the cores- they are worth their weight in gold. For quick replacements, any of the parts store CV's will work, with the downside being that they aren't as strong as the OEM ones, and the boots tend to tear on a yearly basis (especially when you're running max IFS lift).

    Autozone, napa, are fine, just make sure you get the ones with the lifetime replacement, and then just change 'em out when the boots blow.

    Ok good info is there a specific cv axel you can recommend?there’s a ton out there and went to make sure I’m kinda getting what I pay for

    These are conflicting statements. OEM from someone to rebuilds OEM axles (CJV or @zippsub9) is the best way to get what you're paying for.

    As for part store cv axles- brand really doesn't matter- just pick a store local to you. Like I said, the boots won't last as long as OEM, so you'll be changing them out on a more regular basis (figure a year to year and half), but with the lifetime replacement, the up front price is negligible. :notsure: Some folks have tried the extended version sold by a few retailors, boot still tear.

    Do not return your OEM axles as cores to the parts store if you have them. Sell them on here to recoup the cost of the parts store axles- someone will buy them and reboot them.

    Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
    Recycled steel is of less and less grade. OEM spec steel is far superior, but most just don’t want grease flung everywhere and for them to work on road. If the latter is the case then any parts store set would work but please don’t trade in OEM for core. You can get more for them here.

    I would strongly suggest you reconsider your current position on rebooting your existing axles. Boot kits run about $60 each, and you won't find even cheapsie Parts store axles that cheap, and they'll be of far lesser quality

    Most of the store brands will bind at full droop too. The extended travel ones don't.

    Budget being an issue, I would reboot.

    OEM > aftermarket

    I'd also drop the vehicle some, 3" is way too much.

    There are some threads for the extended CVs. Without having run themself- my take away is, they are mechanically fine, but the boots still tear just as easily. So if you're hoping to get more boot life outta them, pass. If you're blowing up CVs while off roading, maybe worth a try.

    I'm running front king's at about 2" and rear has 1.5" shacke lift. The boots lasted quite a while as the truck sees lots of highway trips as well as offroad. I kept OEM axles so seems like rebuilding them is best route. Then I can take the aftermarket axles for warranty and have a new set at the waiting.
    Appreciate the feedback and experiences.
