Just picked up a a 2012 Super White I4 Auto Double Cab SR5 for $19488 plus dealer fees, tax and title. Dealer was selling it for $20498 but I was able to get an additional $1k off as the Toyota college graduate rebate.

I have not seen many I4 double cab non-prerunners but the price is too good to pass. Just need the truck as a daily driver and occasionally a maintenance truck for some investment properties.

The OEM 15" 215/70/15 wheels are truly a joke, they completely hide inside of the fenders and make the car look super goofy. Ima thinking to get a cheap set of 16" or 17" Rav4 or Highlander 5 lug wheels. Are 17"s okay for the I4 taco? What is the maximum tire size for non-prerunners without a lift?

Thanks in advance for any inputs!!

I always thought the 5-luggers were pretty fugly... something about the passenger-car wheels and tires that just make the thing look goofy.

I totally agree. I think it will look a lot better with spacer and wider bigger wheels. Price was too good for me to pass :)

just an observation, but I think one of the reasons the doublecab nonprerunner looks so unproportional is because they have the fender flares, whereas the other nonprerunner trucks do not, other than the xrunner

The odd look is because of the fender flares. This configuration was introduced in 2011, and is made without any retooling. The reason the fender flares are installed is because before 2011, all 5 foot bed tacomas were either 4x4 or prerunner.

You might consider going to a wider tire only, not taller. A taller tire will require re-gearing to a lower axle ratio in order to maintain torque, it will also increase your aerodynamic surface area and you will have to say goodbye to 30 mpg.

I also got one of these just in silver - which spacers would you guys suggest? Would these void the warranty?

no prob! yea they just push them out to give them a wider stance, and I think it'll def help those 5 luggers look more flush
