Going to look at this tomorrow. Really, this probably fits my needs more than anything else. Just spoke to the owner and he says it runs like a dream. Its not 4x4 but I'm not sure I need 4x4.

    Without further adieu:

    https://greensboro.craigslist.org/cto/5140447203.html

    - only 112K

    - owner has taken great care of it

    - not 4wd but the gas mileage he says is around 26mpg.

    I would name it Retro.

The thing about these trucks is they have a regional market which effects the price in a big way.

If I was close I would be glad to help you check things out.

You need to figure out just what you want .

Drove the 86 Toyota pickup today. Its a small truck with a lot of cosmetic issues but it runs great. The owner said the 22r-e engine was Toyota's best. It only has 117K miles but will need new tires, the a/c needs freon, probably needs a new paint job etc. But the truck felt great while driving. I would probably want to get it lifted a little bit, it sits a little too low for me.

I felt $3500 was a little high given all the issues and passed. On Tuesday I'm going look at the 1995 tacoma I posted a link to. That one has high mileage but the owner said the engine has basically been rebuilt so maybe the mileage doesn't matter so much.

If you were close and wanted a older Toyota I would make you a super deal!!

Time to clean the shop out!!

Not bad for a new jasper engine if you want a Solid Axle

That is actually a killer deal for a vintage Toyota 4X4 pickup in that condition. It's even got a freshly-rebuilt engine plus the original engine as a spare. Keep your Acura and buy this truck!

Jasper is a Nation wide rebuilder of Engines and Transmissions

If I remember correct about $2500.00 for a 22R engine but that was a few years ago.

Thats why I'm not going after the 96 Tacoma in the original post. The used car dealer said he didn't want me to take it to a mechanic. SHADY!

The thing with that 95 is its 3 hours away and the logistics are making it difficult to buy the damn thing.

Text some of the smaller dealerships around High Point and Greensboro . If you find one close by I can go with you to check it out. And if you find one that you like we can take a day in my driveway and replace the fluids with Amsoil at dealer cost .

True. It's one of Toyota's few mistakes. 4 cylinder power with V8 fuel economy and GM reliability.

    Few more:

    1) http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...nEmail&subscriberId=6900420#listing=105714812

    - the dealer didn't know what had been done. Cool truck but 232K is a lot to take a chance on

    2) https://greensboro.craigslist.org/ctd/5169836135.html

-- local but seems a little high on price plus it's the v6 you guys said was problematic

And last but not least, my personal favorite (minus the fact it's not 4wd)

    3) http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...nEmail&subscriberId=6900420#listing=118958206

    - 76K miles and a 95? It's not 4wd which makes driving on the beach a little problematic and perhaps when it snows I'll get stuck but I like it.
