Shopping around for new head unit. For my 2011 tacoma

The guy at the local audio shop offered me a Pioneer AvicX930BT with adapters for my jbl system, and steering wheel controls, along with installation and mounts, and harness for a total of $899.00. I don't know much about installing these things so I would need someone to install it anyways.

Just want to get people's opinions on if it is a good deal, and what do they think about the pioneer headunit (if i should substitute it with anything cheaper).

    Thanks!

do you have to have nav? i bought a pioneer avh 2300dvd touchscreen for 350 on crutchfield and couldnt be more happier with it. i personally just cant justify spending any more on a headunit. i even did the install myself, its not hard. if you order through crutchfield you get EVERYTHING you need to do the install (wiring harness, dash kit, and instructions)

These might seem like a risk to most but I looked up "services offered" on C.list and had a system installed for 150 which included installation of amp and changing out f.speakers along w/ new h. unit. These were labor only. Probably spent 100 on wire and adapters, etc. I'd see just what he was selling the h. unit to you for and see what you could get it for on Crutchfield, etc. Guy did a great job.

If you want navigation, it maybe worth looking at the Kenwoods. They use Garmin software so the interface is great, and map updates are easily obtained.
I have the DNX 6960 bought from Crutchfeild and really like it. The Bluetooth works great, and the back up camera is really nice.
As the others have indicated, the install was very straight forward.

I wouldn't say it's any better, or any worse, just another option.

For me the selling feature was the Garmin GPS software as it is the same interface as most of the portable gps's you see around.

And no, you don't pay a monthly fee for GPS.

Go to Crutchfeilds website, they face great reviews and a great return policy if you get one and don't like it or have trouble with it.
