Absent the base model, I think both TRD packages start with an SR5 packaged and are badged as such on the tailgate.

I'm late in on this conversation, but you had mentioned the wife wants something that drives more like a car. My experience is the non-TRD packaged SR5 drives much smoother that my current TRD off-road. On longer trips, I miss the comfort of the regular SR5.

2012 SR5 badging question; Looks like Toyota did away with it in 2012.
For 2012 & 13 it is understood that the TRD packages are not added w/o the SR5 package.

If I was given the wrong information...please hone in.

That is correct. SR5 is part of the TRD package so they don't put the SR5 badges on them anymore. My SR5, non-TRD does have the SR5 badges though.

They stopped badging around 2011, late 2010. Mine is a 2011, manufactured and sold in 2010. TRD with no SR5 badge.

Hey, I didn't read through the whole thread, but if you get me the vin number I can tell you book values, invoice when it was new and if you're getting a good deal. How much they asking?

I lost interest in that 1st truck so I trashed the file (no vin). I got them down to 16k OTD. But again, I could not see financing a truck w/100+K miles.

These are the two I am considering now; 5TFUU4ENOCXO36512, & 3TMJU4GN3AMD97789.

    Thanks for the help!

It's only been a day, he's been on the forum since last September and only had 16 posts.
I get the feeling he doesn't log in every day and live for TW.

    Shoot him a PM.

That's what I figured. It really isn't important. The two trucks who's vin's I noted, as of 2 hrs ago are also "out" of the running. And the information he offered is easily accessed online.

One was a 2012 Access Cab 4WD w/TRD O-R Pkg. Problem with that one; Road hard and put away wet. Shame...only has ~19k miles. The other one is a 2010 4 door w/SR5 & TRD O-R Pkg. Problem with that one; looked great under the blue tarp staging area. Tarp hid all the flaws. I had the sales guy mail pics taken out in the sun and like night and day.

Found another dealership. Told them what I want; a 2010 - 2012 Double Cab w/SR5 & TRD packages, my down payment, the amount I'm willing to pay in closing costs, and the monthly payment I expect (over 48 month's). Of course they promised me the world like every other "d" but these folks seem like they might have a leg up on their competitors. Hopefully something will pan out this coming week.

The one thing that really sticks out in this PITA search is they all have that one great truck at a great deal. Problem is; they sell the phantom truck right before you call.

Ya, and really, invoice when new is meaningless.
I bought my '08 with 53k on it in 2011 for pretty close to it's original sale value.

Especially going back to '98, there have been so many fluctuations in the market and inflation that invoice is meaningless... and "book value" can be gotten from KBB.com
It's not going to be very accurate, but it's going to be as accurate as anything.
Actual market value can easily vary from KBB by 20%.

I think I finally found what I'm looking for. Can someone tell me based on these factory specs, is this the SR5/TRD Off-Road. It does have the TRD Off-Road badging (rear quarters) but if the deal goes through it will be a long distance purchase. Just want to be absolutely certain.

    Thanks!

That looks like a plain SR5, I don't see any TRD Off-road options on there at all.

What should be written in the specs or anywhere else for that matter that indicate its the OR package? I also have some pics on the way. What should I look for in the undercarriage?

Here is another list of stuff on this truck...

    Thanks Brad!

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
There will be a button by the fog light button that says rr diff or somethin like that for engaging the locker.
also they don't make a dclb with the OR package so that's a dead give away.

The Locking Rear Differential listed in the latest picture is only available on the TRD Off road. It should have other options too though, like a rear outlet in the bed, downhill assist if it's new enough. But like I said, the locking rear differential is a dead give-away. I don't know what is offered on them all throughout the years though.

Here's the rr diff button. What is dclb? Double cab long bed? This is a short bed. Nice info!

    Thanks!

What year is it? the newer ones also have downhill assist......the button for that is down near the mirror controls.
