I plan on forking this week...& yes, I think dollar for dollar these trucks are hard to beat. However, '05 Truck to the present w/o serious issues is hardly something to bank on. I'm looking for stat's on 20/> years to qualify a vehicle as a no serious issue qualifier.

KIM, I wouldn't be throwing that kind of dough out unless I thought this thing will last. Yes, T's are hard to beat...

Going to be very few models that you can look to a 20 year history.
Toyota generally runs major redesigns every 7-10 years, and these typically include new engine designs as well. Add to that changes in manufacturing locations and parts sourcing.
Even the bulletproof 22r/22re didn't run for 20 years.

    Rich - I was thinking more along the lines of long term reliability. Here is a general consensus among major auto review companies and the reason I opted for a Toyota Tacoma;

Toyotas and Hondas, if well maintained, will be extremely reliable cars. Toyota Motor Corporation and Honda Motor Company have long dominated reliability, Toyota since about 1977 and Honda since about 1980. Also, Toyota holds 18 of the Canadian Automobile Association's Pyramid Awards for "vehicle engineering excellence in terms of actual, long-term, reliable performance," and Honda holds another 3. Nissan holds 3 and Ford 1. (See AutoOnInfo.net.) However, reliability is only one factor in durability.

Toyota Motor Corporation accounts for more than 63% of Auto on Info's high mileage vehicles with 400,000 or more miles and 15 or more years and 60% of its top 25 high mileage holders.

I will pick up the "T" on Friday. Thanks for helping out guys. Much appreciated!

    Thanks again.

not sure how you are going to get one from Toyota. My dealer showed me invoice. Try Edmunds or NADA.

Well...the plan was to pick up the truck tomorrow. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen. I will explain once the truck is in my position. Too much at stake to spill all the beans at this point.

FWIW Stay tuned; will be a lesson in do's and don'ts of buying a Taco, or any other vehicle for that matter. :)

Edmunds tends to be the best bet if you have the sticker. The mobile app will allow you to check on site.

Thank you Robert. I'll give that a try.

Here is the "Inventory Detail" report I mentioned above. This report has the truck valued at $31,858.00 new. My lender has it valued at $31,875.00...go figure? These trucks hold their value but this is ridiculous.

Each of those packages are on Edmunds. You sometimes run onto trouble with gulf state packages but yours should be plug and price.

Long day but she's finally home. Took the NM Rail Runner to Santa Fe early this morning. Finalized the paper work with the lender, and drove her back home; just south of Albuquerque. These trucks drive incredibly smooth for a 4X4. Still early but I think we're going to get along just fine. Thanks again for everyone's help!!!

Wow, I've always thought Toyota and Honda to be the most reliable, but this definitely proves it! Thanks for posting this- I'm glad to be able to back up what I thought with numbers! :D
And welcome to TW- Hope your Tacoma is everything you wanted it to be!

Wow TW worked on him before he even had a taco lol OP just a warning if you get on TW a lot it makes you spend money and by judging on the decision to go from used 16k taco to a 32k taco, the TW bug has already infected you :D

Thanks guys! Once I've had a chance to digress some after a long day I'll give you all a run down on how this transaction took place. I also learned a few lessons that (FWIW) might come in handy for some. The most pleasing of which was locating this hard to find 2012 Pyrite Mica, TRD OR, 4x4, w/ < 9K miles for 27K. Bottom line...there are still deals out there if you are willing to do the work. The closest any dealership came to this one was $31,500 for a 2011 w/50k miles.
