If you want over lays then some chrome is going to be visible. If you want all black no chrome showing, then pastidip or paint them. Pastidip can be applied with emblem still on the truck. Several write ups are on TW. If painting, they should be removed by heating with a hair dryer and use a piece of fishing line or dental floss to cut the 3m tape. Clean it up, paint let dry and reapply 3m tape and stick them back on the truck. A 2 beer job at most, maybe 3.
Or just buy a new black set.

Tape off a couple inches to each side. Let dry and peel.20190215_171742.jpg

The Toyota overlays I bought completely cover the chrome, they look great.

Reviving an old thread, but have there been any other vendors making these overlays that I'm not aware of. True overlays (not decals, not painted or derped) where I can only buy what I need vs. the $150 overpriced kit from Toyota that comes with several emblems my OR doesn't need? I'd like a clean overlay look, but not for $150 (and buying stuff I won't use..) :)

I bought a set of black replacement badges off of ebay for I want to say less than $20. The don't cover your old badging, they replace it. Looks great.
