My brother just sent me this.

    2001 DC 86xxx miles - tons of interior - suspension upgrades, re-geared 38s

Looking at trading his stock 2005 DC SR5 with 170,000 miles for it.

Get rid of the wheels and depending on the suspension set up... YES!

    no.

IMO the wheels throw the whole deal down the shitter.

    your brothers 4x4? or prerunner?

edit: now that i think of it its a pretty good deal. but the wheels ahh.

if he doesnt plan to off road it seems good.

    whats it re geared too?

Yes, but you have to change the wheels on the lot, you can't drive that off with those wheels on it.

I agree on the wheels. Sharp truck, one-owner from Nevada. Looks like someone built a mall-crawler and didn't get it out much.

    His truck is a 4x4 SR5.

NO. The wheels yes are a problem because they are horrendous so you would have to either be caught dead rolling with those things or fork over another $600-$1000 for a decent set of new wheels. Most importantly the truck has been modded pretty heavily in the suspension area, and you have no idea what kind of work was done or who did it. It also may have been done for that exact purpose to go rock crawling there is no way you can make the assumption it was only a mall crawler. It's basically like buying a modded Subaru WRX STi and the owner saying he never raced it or abused it.... riiiiiiiiiiight.

Yes but be sure you/he does all of the homework needed when purchasing a used vehicle.

Verify suspension work, get the vehicle inspected, ask for service records/call the dealership/shop that they got the majority of the work done at, get a CarFax, etc...

    170k is a TON for that 2005...

can you just check out the suspension and see if its quality parts? Possibly a shop installed them? If its a mall crawler with shit off road wheels no need to worry about the previous owner abusing it. 4x4 dc 01 with 87k, for an 05 with 170k, no brainer, DO IT!!!!!

as mentioned above, I saw you trade just cause the 170k. And check out the suspension, if he had the forethought to regear, he probably did the suspension right too.

I would personally trade and then sell off all the stupid mods, I roll stock, but that is just me.

I would make sure the seller sends you better quality pictures. Too easy to cover things up with shitty pictures like that.

Guys, my brother is looking at the truck in person and is sending me cell phone pics. He is going to get better pics this am...

Can anyone help with what type of suspension that is? I am just trying to help him make a good decision, and was looking for the advice of TW.
