Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Hell yeah, I got caught stealing cds when I was like 13, they said they wouldn't call the cops because I was younger, they would call my parents instead. I think I might have cried then, asked if I could do anything, work it off or whatever it took not to call them.

I dunno... I got beat like twice as a kid and never again did I let that shit happen. It wasn't so much that I feared the beating, as I feared the disappointment... Disappointment is wayyyy worse than a beating in my book.

Hell Yeah! Love hurts sometimes. I would have gotten my ass beat too for thinking gangs are cool! Kids don't get disaplend much anymore. I believe in old school ways.

Haha! I know exactly how you feel. My old man was a hairy 5'6" Italian welder who always wore this thick brown leather belt. That thing was the bane of my existence if I trod off the line.

All this time out bullshit is garbage. Kids understand pain and how to avoid it. Later in life they'll get the whole that's wrong because of this this and this. But early it's easy. If I do this after getting a warning, my ass gets beaten.

And then when you get older if you don't listen to the police guess what? They beat your ass AND give you a time out. But there's always that asskicking.

Absolutely. An accident is one thing, but if they've been told a couple times, guess what. you get to learn the hard way.

It's like a hot stove. You'll touch that red hot fucker once, but every time after that you'll show it some respect and not do it again.

I may have to borrow that and adopt it to my own brand parenting. :spy:

sorry i'm late to this...but its def NOT safe to say that most people involved in gangs were beat as children

far from it as a matter of fact...i grew up in and around heavy gang neighborhoods/schools and I currently work in one...i spend a lot of time with the at risk kids etc

More often than not, the kids who join gangs rarely have anything at home...mom is out at the club all night picking up guys, and dad is nowhere to be found

Add in the allure of money and things you cant have now (cars/women) and just like that, you've got a kid who had nothing yesterday and without gangs, seemingly doesnt have anything for tomorrow willing to do anything the gang asks in exchange for these things...

rarely is abuse what sends the kid to a gang
