    . step one get a new truck,

    Ok here's what happened;

    This was a parking lot accident. I wasn't even in the truck when it happened. I came out of the eye Dr and that's what I found.

    An older woman bumped a car accross the parking lot then put her foot on the gas instead of the brake. She zoomed clear accross the lot and hit me (the blue Tacoma) going about 30 mph . I was parked parallel to the orange Honda Element. She pushed me into the Element which was pushed into the 2 cars next to hers.

    It doesn't look like it, but my truck was totaled along with hers and the Element. There were 7 cars damaged, 3 totaled.

    She had good insurance and they treated me well. I am now driving a Silver 09 Tacoma almost exactly the same as the 08.

    BTW, the older lady driving was pretty shook up but not hurt.

    Crazy stuff! It's nice to hear that you are satisfied with the outcome from the insurance company. It sucks when they undervalue your vehicle and an accident ends up costing you several thousand dollars.

    I can see how your truck was totaled (probably bend in the side frame rail) but not the element. Obviously it's hard to see in the pictures but I assume it has a bent frame as well.

    That is they type of accident I am saving my "accident forgiveness" for. Probably cost the insurance company close to $300K.

    Here's what I don't understand about accidents like this. Ok, so you hit the gas instead of the break. It happens. I've done it. I'm sure others on here have done it. But why in the world would you KEEP YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS? As soon as you notice unintended acceleration, that's your cue to hit the other peddle. Glad she was alright though.
