Any recommendations for a good cap installer in SD/OC, maybe even LA area? Total Taco noob. Despite the great off-road handling, I am getting tired of my Wrangler's "feautres" (crazy wind noise above 65 mph, piss poor handling) as a daily driver and long road trip transport. Looking for some more space and contemplating a Taco extended cab with a 6ft bed and a cap. Have spent the past 12 hrs reading and watching Youtube videos, and it seems that the difference between A.R.E., LEER, and SnugTop is largely determined by the skill of the installer. - more so than the brand. Is there someone who has consistently been doing high quality work in SoCal? Thx

pretty simple to do yourself with another friend. if you're adamant about getting it done at a place, i used discount camper shells in long beach when the previous owner ripped the wiring out of my shell and needed them to wire it for the 3rd brake light for me. super nice dudes and do good work, right off the freeway too.

leer truck accessory center on engineer road. do a VERY thorough inspection of the shell before and after it goes on your car. bring up any imperfections in the shell. in my opinion the leer mounting system (speaking from experience) is complete dogshit. comes loose, just use a bolt that cannot fit flat/flush with the camper which bends the bolt and allows camper to come loose very easily.

Thanks, I was assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that whatever warranty is there is void if I self install. I realize that the process is no more complicated than putting a hardtop on a Jeep - a couple of brackets, some gasketing, an electrical disconnect, and you are mostly good to go. Will look into Discount Camper Shells - they are a SnugTop dealer.
