I live in the Portland area. Every time I have taken my Tacoma in to have a mechanic look at my blower switch (works now and then or only on high) it starts working so they are unable to figure out what is wrong with it. Because of this I end up waiting another two weeks or so for another appointment. I am not good with fixing things along with being in my 60s. From what I have read on the forum it does not seem like a big problem but only needs to be fixed. Thanks to all of you on this forum. You have been great. Thanks David

Are you telling me a shop can’t figure out how to replace a $30 blower resistor that is a common well known failure on this truck

wait times are not that long when you personally have a mechanic friend who can look at things after work or on weekends

That is sad. I hope they're not throwing new resistors in and charging you.

Buy this. They say it is not available at the store. I chose in Portland but you can have it shipped to your house. This is an easy repair. The only tool you really need is a crimper. This can be found in the electrical tool section of home Depot. Look for the standalone crimpers that do the actual crimping on the opposite side of the hinge. These give you more leverage and make a tighter crimp.

    Good luck.

Even cheaper at Napa, and in stock at virtually every store in the area:

Search “Tacoma blower motor resistor replacement” on YouTube and you’ll find plenty of good videos illustrating this very simple repair.
