The AT3 are pretty sweet, I've had them on for 2k miles and never had them break loose in the rain like the Rugged Fails constantly did. Great in snow, I got the C rated which dropped mpg a tad because they're heavier but they handle so much better. No complaints

I've had mine on my taco for close to 3k miles now. Still look new (aside from being dirty and needing some tire shine).

I had the Hankook Dynapros on my Tahoe, they came on it whe i bought it. It was mainly used in dry California weather, don't think I'd ever consider them for anything else, less agressive, more of a highway tire.

Have you run them in the snow yet? How is your fuel mileage? This tire is the one I'm looking at.

Thanks again folks. Lots of good info here. The Dynapro was another tire I was looking at.

Limited snow / ice use with the hankooks this season. But they seem to be on par with the MS2's or just barley under them in terms of light snow / icey roads.... they do seem to fair better in deeper stuff than the MS2's (due to more agressive tread)

Fuel milage pretty much remained unhurt when jumping from the stock rugged fails 265/70R16 to the 265/75R16 hankooks... as the hankooks are all of 1.8lbs per tire heavier than the stock tires.

    That is awesome, thanks!

I've got a lot of miles on Duratracs on work vehicles. Not too fond of them in the snow or wet pavement, though they are awesome on gravel roads and light mud.

While I cant give a recommendation for truck tires, I will caution you that rubber compound makes just as big a difference as tread design. Don't get wrapped around the axle looking at tread design if you end up with a hard as rock rubber that gives you shitty traction for the next 100K miles.

2nd this, I've had a couple of the Geolanders AT on different vehicles and they ride great in the rain and wet roads.

Sounds like you may well go a different direction, but might I add that if you leaned towards the Coopers... the ST Maxx would be the choice from their lineup. Not only are they a beast offroad but they measure up really well onroad. In a comparison I saw of 4 or 5 common on/off road tires, the ST Maxx held up really well on pavement, specifically in the wet tests they ran. I have only put about 6-7 thousand miles on mine but on and off road wet and dry snow and ice I have been quite impressed.

Isn't the ST-Maxx super heavy though. This truck will be my DD and the amount of off roading it will see will most likely be a dirt road. Think poser, not really I have done lots of off roading in my past but I won't be doing it with this truck. I just hate anything stock so I want to make some subtle changes.

I've had many sets of the Toyo AT tires on my trucks and they perform great in the rain. They are a great all around tire. The AT2 is out now and is even better than the original. If you get them from Les Schwab they'll give you a 65,000 mile warranty.

hey - I've got the General Grabber AT2 and run them year round. they've been great in all conditions so far (going on 3 years)
Canadian Tire usually throws them on their buy 3 get the 4th free deals once in a while. keep an eye out for that deal.

Yeah they're heavy.. my 255/85/16s are 53 a piece (and I have them on stock steelies:rofl:) the AT3 by comparison does weigh a lot less: for 265/70/16 it's 38 whereas MAXXs in similar sizes are still over 50lbs.

Again, the General Grabber AT2 have a load rating of "E" and weight 57 lbs.

I run the Duratracs, they are good in the rain and even flood conditions nothing bad to say - only issue get someone that has a hunter road force balancer...mine will get rebalanced on one today after 3 tries on a regular one I have to bring it to a different shop with the right equipment

there's a bit of weight to them but the mileage difference is negligible. they wear really well too. drove to Kentucky last month (averaged 19 mpg). rained so hard thought we'd get nailed by tornadoes on our way home. tires handled very well. (rainx on the windshield and other than keeping the vehicle on the road never gave the tires a second thought).

Alright, I just ordered a set of Toyo Open Country AT II. We get a lot of rain here on the Wet Coast of B.C, yes Wet Coast was intentional, so I figured the Toyo's would work well.

Without turning this into a Hallmark moment, thanks everyone for your help. I'm overwhelmed at how helpful this forum is. As I said in my '884,885,886 PLEASE HELP' thread, it has been the norm on other forums for people asking a question that may have been answered a year ago, to get flamed and dismissed with an answer like "search".

    Thanks again.

One key I've found to long tire life is frequent rotation, get them rotated before the recommend intervals and you'll be surprised how long those Toyo's will last.
