Thanks for the tip about the thread. Have to look that one up so I can recommend Prestone! :)

Since the whiteout conditions on firearms opening day, and Indiana at least seems to have embraced winter, let's bring this thread back to discussion. I am looking at the Snow Joe for the wife. What I HATE about some of these snow clearing ones is the amount of space they keep taking up in the car. Keep the hints coming folks! Appreciate it - especially since our move has relegated the truck out of a garage.

Iagree 100%! We have uite enough chemicals out there already!

FWIW, being in nor'east New England without a garage, my BEST 3 options ranked in order are:

    #1 - Remote starter

#2 - Windshield cover, or even a tarp fitted to your vehicle ... could almost be tied with the starter, for even if no ice, with 3"or snow or so, a uick FLIP and all the snow if off the windshield

#3 - Sno Joe ice scrapers withthe brass blade, wicked AWESOME for windshield ice use! Last price was around $6 each at Home Depot. They are on eBay for $8 shipped.

Back in the day, in Kansas, I'd throw a tarp over the cab and windshield and secure it by closing the doors on a stretch of it.

Then in the morning post-snow jump in the bed, ease it off and presto - beautiful clean glass. Of course the old 'Toyota Pickup' had seen better days
so I wasn't concerned about any little scratches it caused.

A big-ole-towel that covered the windshield may do the trick - or an old bed sheet.
