I’ve run them on my Jeep for years. Excellent tire off road. Decent tire on road. I wouldn’t want them on a daily driver but if you go off-road a lot, they are unstoppable. 57E1499D-9F36-4388-90CE-0A1C90D3D71E.jpg

Ive had 5 sets, and I’ve bought them that many times for a reason.
Had them on a WJ Grand Cherokee, 3rd gen runner, 1st gen Tacoma, and two different size sets for my 3rd gen Tacoma. Excellent offroad, better than an average mud terrain on road. Quiet, and throws the water out with ease (just had hurricane lane hit Hawaii islands last week so I know this well). Performs flawlessly.

Only thing that’s a pain in the butt is balancing this tire

They work well. I had balance beads in my 35s and 37s and they were smooth

So weird. 8 good tires in a row!

I remember the issues you had. All mine were fine.

A friend of mine has beads in his 35’s for his SAS 1st gen. I believe his is doing well, as well. But it is not his daily. Just his fishing/camping rig so I can’t report an accurate tread wear, but he’s had zero issues as well. I wish I could remember how many oz were in there...it’s been on spiderlocks for at least 4 years now lol

Thanks for all the input guys! Any suggestions on what also might be a great tire on road and off?

What’s your type of offroad terrain?

@bullaculla and I have lava rock to deal with so MTRs are a great choice for us for example

I live in North Eastern AZ we have everything from bolder rocks and cracks to dirt and mud, Im really looking for a do it all tire but with an aggressive tread. So far im looking at the MT/R and the KO2s gonna run them 285/75/17 I believe

Stay away from ko2’s. Terrible for mud. They cake easily and can’t clean themselves out. It’s a towing/long lasting tire.

Maybe take a look at falken tires. They have a pretty decent mud terrain they just came out with not too long ago that my cousin is running.

Also, 285/70 would be the appropriate metric size for 17’s

Edit: I still think you’ll love the MTRs. My old set on my 1st gen went 30,000 miles with a lot of life left!

I may be bias as well ;)

But for real, they’ll perform! Guys use them a lot in the Jeep community at Moab

I'm the odd one here with a bad experience. My MTR Kevlars on my jeep are great off road, but they are a gigantic PITA on the road. One of them is not round... therefore it rides like a wagon. Another one has worn differently from the rest, and it is so loud that you need ear plugs to ride in my jeep.... and it's only that ONE. I will give them a good durability rating though. A third one had a big cut in the sidewall, but it has not lost air yet and I have been wheeling it like that for a year now.

I would have a hard time buying them again, but they do work insanely well off road.

How much do you daily drive?

If you are primarily offroad you can look into some Maxxis tires.

RAZR and Treps come in radials or you can get a bias ply.

Yeah my balancing issues are because they are out of round.

Big difference between KO2s and MTRs. KM2 and MTR is more even match.

My MTRs have worn surprisingly well on my Jeep. I rotate them every 5k and they are wearing even and nice. Got 30k on them now and it looks like I might get 35 or 38 out of them. No vibrations or weird handling issues. There is a good chance I’ll go with them again but I may try the new KM3s.

I'm at around 26K on my MT/R's. I estimate they'll need replacing @32k to 37K mi. They'll be five years old by then anyways...
Impeccable offroad. Not as noisy as my KM2's. They've seen sierra granite. Handle well in beach & desert sand. In Arizona, California & Oregon volcanic rock; never a sidewall slash.

They've never made me regret my purchase.

Not the greatest mpg tires. But they'll be my new next set of tires.
