    Dell,
Which brand of traction bar is that?
I put in a call to Bud-built but they never returned my call.

With the InchWorm Lefty, I get axle wrap bad and need one of these.

    Thanks.

x2, sounds just like what I have.

I have had a bud built sitting around for some time, finally started putting it on and come to find out it won't fit with the stock exhaust- not by a long shot. Pretty bummed with this, I'm at an age where I actually really appreciate my stock air box and exhaust- I like not hearing my truck. But now looks like I need to mod my exhaust... gotta get rid of this axle wrap.

It was posted on this tread or on a similar tread like this that all you really need to do is put the u clamp about 4 to 5 inches on the front of the axle and torque it down to 50 foot pounds. I remember reading it a couple months ago.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Saving this for later, great writeup! I am doing this over the weekend without fail. Axle wrap has been a pebble in my shoe for a year since I bought this truck.

By doing this mod, how much are you limiting your rear suspension articulation during off-road wheelin'?

I did this a couple of days ago. It seemed to help but I still have some wrap when coming to a hard stop. Thinking of putting ubolts behind the axle to see if that will fix it completely. Has anyone done this?

I just did the ubolts on the front of the axle. Some tw members have experimented moving the clamp between 4 and 6 inches from the axle. The worst your leafs are the farther you have to go.

I tried this mod but it didn't fix my axle wrap (my leaves are frowning pretty bad). Anyone know a good set of leafs that eliminate axle wrap but don't really add any lift?

Just did this on the weekend and lubed the slip yoke. Car drives smooth with no sign of clunk but during the installation of the clamps, at about 5 in from the axle, I noticed the plate on the driver's side is less than an inch from form the gas tank. Should that be a concern? I decided to grind the corners of the plates and install the clamps with the plates/nuts facing down instead to make more space from the gas tank. I probably didn't need to but figure it doesn't hurt installing them this way, actually easier to torque down the nuts with much more room from below.

Also, every time I removed the slip yoke, I always lost some trans fluid. I did this twice. Should I refill with just approximately the same amount?

    thx

I noticed that also, I took them off instead of worrying about puncturing the gas tank because it didn't get rid of the axle wrap on my truck.

As mentioned here, if your leaves are bad, move the clamps closer to the front, and away from the gas tank.

If I move it more forward it will hit the gas tank hanger/mount.

I ordered from these guys a couple weeks ago after many hours of exhausting research. They are made with better quality steel compared to the OEM Toyota ones. You can't beat the price either, super helpful, fast shipping. Nothing but good reviews from folks on Tacoma World too!

Thank you for the recommendation, did those springs stop axle wrap in your truck?

Oops sorry should've mentioned I have not installed them yet! Too busy with work lately. Everything I researched pointed to them being a great spring. Maybe search general spring, I know a lot of second gen guys are running them.

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
You will always have axle wrap unless you attach traction bars of some sort....however, getting a better spring will mitigate the massive wrap the weak Tacoma springs have...I added theses two spring 'helper's'.... http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...20-11-102/10053624-P?searchTerm=leafs+helpers and http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...30-11-103/10053619-P?searchTerm=leafs+helpers it really helped with the axle wrap and sag on the cheap, someday I will get springs, but for now I am fine...there is a write up on these two mentioned, in the 1st gen archives....

Do bolt on spring helpers help with axle wrap? They may be an inexpensive fix!
