so guys i finally pulled the trigger. ive been debating on getting rid of my taco for sometime now and i finally did. i had a 09 TRD OR DCSB 6speed. i could easily afford the payments each month but at my point in life i felt that these monthly payments were just not nessasary. i did not use the taco to its fullest potential. basically driving to work at back. and for the amount of money i was spending i could have had a much cheaper truck for it. i still need 4x4 and i need to tow so that is what i was mainly looking at. i ended up buying a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9l. it runs and drives great and its sooooo much cheaper then the taco. well anyways i just wanted to thank everyone on the forum for helping me out numerous times with advice. i will still creep around on the forum but again guys thank you.

Cheaper to buy. When it needs fixin' then you'll pay! Dodge parts are not cheap. And in my experience not nearly as reliable as Toyota. Just saying.
    Good Luck, and happy trails

The mpgs from the 5.9 will negate your monthly payment depending on how much you drive.

    This!
Beware of leaky heater cores- you will not have a dashboard left, if it's not gone already! Everyone I know with a Dodge truck (excluding newer ones, of course) has no dashboard, because it gets torn apart in the process of doing the heater core.
Good luck, though. I won't wish harm upon you for going to the dark side... maybe. :D

You could have always gone with a cheap 1gen.. Good luck on the truck though!

Just playing, I sell more parts for dodges at work than anything. But cheaper is cheaper. I was considering a crew cab short box f150 before I got the tacoma. I didn't want to spend $24k on a 2011 with 50k in the same color as my old car. But I ended up spending over 30k on the smaller truck :D

The only way I would buy one of those dodges, is with the Cummins. Otherwise, like others' have said, should have bought a first gen 4x4 Toyota. We'll welcome you back with open arms when you come back....oh yes...you will be back....

Be sure to watch the transmission on that Dodge, my last truck was a 98' and it contained a plethora of problems. Tranny went out for me around 125k and basically broke everything between the axle and the motor (t-case, tranny(obviously) and the driveshaft) I hope you have better luck than I did with mine:)
Oh yeah and that 5.9 will have you crying at the pump, I had the 5.2 and got anywhere from 10-13 mpg.
