You need to have money to run the new diesels these days. Between the amount of oil needed for changes, the ridiculous piss emissions filters, the need for fuel conditioners and such, these new diesels are for the rich guys. Just the price of admission to one of these diesels is off the hook.

There is your problem  My dad hasn't had any major problems on his F-150 and is near 90k miles

Dodges aren't the worst, just be prepared to empty your wallet on repairs

    Since when?

Looked at an 07 Crown Vic just the other day. Pissing coolant from somewhere underneath the thermostat....and pouring out the head gasket on the d/s. All over the bell housing and oil pan.

Save the fanboy crap too, Whipper

The main reason I am going to a full size is for towing. My Tacoma does fine in every other aspect but pulling my horse trailer and boat, it just doesn't cut it. The perfect scenario would be keeping my Taco and finding something that wouldn't cost me a ton of money and using mainly to pull the horse trailer. I have searched craigslist to no avail.

My vote would be an F150. It's what I'd get if I were buying a truck now.

Or had their frame rust out from under them
Personally, with a brand new truck, I would go with whoever gives me the best deal that isn't GM (Pissed they took the bailout). Used, I'd look at a Ford, Dodge, or Tundra

It has won the JD Power and Associates award for most reliable full size pick up for the last 7 consecutive years now.

If I was going to tow the shit out of something it would be an F-250. If I just needed more overall room, Titan.

The dependability ratings only go back 3 years. i.e. now we are getting data for 2009 model year trucks. In theory, if 90% of a truck model blew a transmission after 5 years, no published reliability metric would account for it.

Kinda makes that whole JD Power thingy moot IMO
What the heck is "initial quality" anyway? Everyone has it at first

I looked at a Dodge and the Taco, and I couldn't believe the number of people who said stay away because they've been having a lot of problems. That, and I really wanted a standard.
