Goodbye Unchained 5150 (RIP Rick)

I have been away from TW for some time and just now seeing this! Rick and I had a lot of conversations on and off TW and regularly gifted each other stuff. I know it's late but my most sincere condolences to you and your family.

 

Prayers for everyone that are missing loved one's on this Christmas morning. May the memories from the past make us smile, Merry Christmas to all.

My condolences. I don’t usually browse this sub forum, I’m in shock. He was such a kind soul.

 

One year gone. TW isn’t the same without you Rick.
I know today must be hard for his family, my thoughts go out to you all.

I remember too much about that day. I spoke to him exactly one year ago on this day at this time over the phone. He was going to come out to my house the next day so we could hang out and change his oil and spark plugs, but the weather looked bad so we put it off until the following weekend. Then the phone call and text messages the next morning. It has been a difficult year without you here my friend. Miss you terribly. To Karen and the boys, I do hope you find comfort tomorrow. Thinking of you.

 

Always remembered, never forgotten. I wasn't fortunate enough to meet him offline.

 

I corresponded with Rick numerous times and we swapped parts as well. Super stand-up guy. Will always be remembered!

 

Thinking of Rick this morning, a smile and fond memories of his kindness and humor. Miss you buddy.

I was thinking of you today Rick as I was driving to Maine picking up Tacoma parts. You were always helping others here when we had questions about truck parts. You would go so far as arranging deals with Toyota parts departments for us! I wonder what you would have thought of the 4GEN?! Anyway rest easy friend.

I suspect he would have bought one, with every mod available for the truck at that point in time, made it his own, then decide that the 2nd Gen pyrite mica was really a better truck and he would search until he found one then proceed to sell all the accumulated 4th Gen parts at unreasonably cheap prices, in amazing condition while giving away some parts in the process.

 

So true! Yes selling the parts cheap or even giving them away. I know many of you guys and gals miss him. What started me thinking of Rick was I saw a 2GEN with the 3 color retro stripe emblem in their grill. He really liked those retro stripes. That's all it took. Though I don't post on TW much, Rick will be never forgotten by me. He was just the kindest man I never met.

 

I do wish that you did meet him in person Judy. He was a character. I knew the man for 6 years and seen him on a bi-weekly-monthly basis and he always called me "Crash." I once stated to him..."You know that my name is Jared, right Rick?" And he replied...."You will always be 'Crash' to me." I liked that.

 

I love that memory you have of him! Yes I do have that regret not meeting him. He was quite the character! Miss seeing his posts pop up. Because of him and another friend who passed, I make a point of telling my friends and family I love them. You just never know.

 

Rick tayght me to pay attention to those around you, reach out often just to check on your friends.
Men never ask for help, but your voice/words might be the reason that someone stays another day.
