My 17 Pro came with Goodyear Wranglers with Kevlar tires. Pretty weak, imo. I have 27K mikes...no rock climbing. Tread holds up okay. But I have just had to replace the second one. First got a sidewall puncture...no patch or plug, had to be replaced. Chalk it up to bad luck. Dealership matched TireRack.com, so I let them replace it. Second one just spring a leak...just a chunk out of the tire in the middle of the tread pattern. Parked it at Discount Tire...it’ll be flat by morning. Hopefully they can plug it and air it up. I put BFG KO2’s on my ‘14 TRD Sport. Other than a slight drop in MPG due to the weight, I’m guessing, I had no complaints...ran 50K on them and they never punctured or popped.

I wished all mine would spring leaks so I could justify to the wife the need for some KO2's or Duratracs or...or...

I've always felt all the Toyota PRO's deserve better tires, they just can't ship them with LT tires due to emissions and fuel economy.

The Wildpeaks on my truck were a nice upgrade over the stock Kevlars.

Never understood why they put such street oriented tires on the OR and PROs

Agreed. Good news for anyone who wants great deals on them since the market is flooded from everyone upgrading right away.

I've done a bunch of high elevation Colorado off roading and feel that the stock Goodyear Wrangler Kevlars are a damn good OE tire. Not very good in packed powder and slush, but I've been spoiled with winter tires for decades.

I sold my stock Kevlars for $200 this past summer were about a year old...replaced with Falken’s wild peaks the difference was significant

Find a rocky trail, but have a good recovery plan for the 2nd flat! Then you can get those KO2’s!

That’s nice. 2 flats on the same trip were enough for me.

Glad to rid myself of the Kevlars. They didn't hold up well.

I had two on the same trip as well, rears also- I dont spin while on rocks, but my butt heavy rears took the brunt of our weight when we were climbing out of a canyon in Death Valley heat and I had 1 blowout and one buldging sidewall. So glad the second tire didnt fail until we got back to Big Pine, otherwise it would have been a flatbed trip back for sure.

My two rear flats occurred when I hit a small wash going across a dirt road. I was loaded fairly heavy and found that two small sharp triangular rocks sliced through the treads on both tires. What are the odds...

Death Valley huh? I live in Big Pine.

Steel Pass ring a bell? Did it backwards, then turned around part way up . Thats the road that probably did us in. I will have to look you up next time we are out there!

...on our way home from last trip with much better tires and a lot more gear and weight (shell+RTT).E30D144F-8C98-4417-B7BE-4C478048C542.jpg

I took mine off the first week. The 4runners Pros come with Nitto Terra Grapplers which is much more of an Off Road tire tread and look then the wranglers. Not sure why they could offer a better off road tire than the stock Wranglers.

Definitely something great to be said about the KO2's. I ran my last set (20% tread) super hard on talus and really sharp rock, hoping I could injure them, but they just held up great. I replaced them with Toyo Open Country At2, and was changing tires my first trip out with them

My kevlars were practically bald by 20k miles. I’m at 50k miles now and I’m on my 4th set of tires... but that’s because I kept upsizing and selling the old ones. So far I have liked my ridge grapplers and stt pros, and disliked the kevlars and km2s. I would say the kevlars are a good street tire to handle fire roads, but nothing more
