Mine have 13,500 miles on them. The first time I hit a very wet rainy road at about 5K miles I nearly went off into the ditch! Hydroplaning was not expected on newer tires. They hydroplane more often and at lower speeds than anything I've ever owned in 40 years of driving. In the snow they are average. Not bad but not great.

I hope to wear them out fast then get some Michelins.

Do these stock tires sell pretty good? I got 3500 miles on mine and thinking about listing but not sure how to price them. Any ideals for a new set of tires?

I sold mine on craigslist for $400 and had 2200 miles on them. I doubt you will get much more than that. I saw a few other sets for $300~ish.

I shopped around online and found my 285's at Pep Boys.
Total out of pocket was around $200 (including the alignment) after selling my OEM tires.

I got 2 flats in the first 8k miles on my wranglers. Flats from driving on the street, not off-road. I switched to SL rated wildpeaks and never looked back.

Oh I’d jump for joy if I got $300, the BFG’s in my OEM size is gonna run just over $1100 total out the door.

My new ORDC has the 16" Kevlars on it,and for the life of me I cant drive this truck in a straight line on the highway. At 115kph(70mph) it seems it is constantly wandering, especially if you are on a highway that has had a lot of heavy truck traffic and has slight rutting.I shuttle cars around for a couple dealerships and last week I drove a new TRD DC Sport, with 17s and a less aggressive tire,it tracked straight and true.I cant really see this as being an alignment issue, the truck is only a month old and has 2000kms on it,and hasn't had any suspension hits.

My take on the stock Kevlar's.....traction I felt was decent for what they were and never gave me any troubles, but they wore out quickly on me. Went with a set of DuraTracs. Big improvement in traction, slight fuel economy hit but that's the price to pay to play I guess...

Kevlar's have been to me so far, have about 16k miles on them. They have gotten me through the desert, snow, beach, etc.. so for stock tires can't really complain. Definitely going to let them run their course before I make the switch over to K02 or whatever i end choosing.

For stock tires...they’re great. I put 40K miles on them...could have put 5-10K more, I bet. I swapped them for NITTO Terra Grapplers. Picked them over BFG KO2’s to save a little...about $25 per tire at Discount Tire. Still prefer the BFG’s even though they are heavy and cost you some mpg’s. But I like the Grapplers just fine.

Dumped my worn out Goodyear kevlars (22,000 miles) and bought Duratracs.

The Kevlar tire was one of the worst tires I have driven on. They hydroplaned easily and tracked poorly on older asphalt roads, especially when those roads had crack filler or worn driving lanes from heavy truck traffic. I had to slow down often, where in any other vehicle I could have driven faster and safer.

    Best Tire Change Ever.

Wierd. I’m happy with my Kevlars at 8k. I don’t off road. No hydroplane issues. One tire did get a leak and that was plugged.

3500 miles on mine. No complaints with performance... they do seem to be wearing a bit faster than expected but we'll see.

You all do realize that the Kevlar does nothing to add strength to the sidewall, right? The Kevlar is used as a zero degree cap. It is put on top of the steel belting and purpose is to keep the tire flat. Kevlar which is DuPont's trade name for aramid has a unique quality that it shrinks when it gets hot. This helps the tire keep shape. That is all that it does. It doesn't improve abrasion resistance. It doesn't improve handling. It doesn't increase tire life. It has nothing to do with wet traction. It doesn't stop flats by making them bullet proof.

The concept isn't unique to tires. Most manufactures use synthetic ply materials for this purpose. Most use nylon which does the same thing and is cheaper than buying a DuPont brand name. It is really nothing more than a marketing gimmick because people are familiar with the trade name.

Knock on wood at 3k miles on the OEM tires. Lots of off roading on sharp rocks etc. No flats or tire damage. Zero issues with hydroplaning at 80mph in heavy rain a bunch of times.

I see all those out west looking photos with easy roads. What’s out there that’s eating tires ?? I ran the Mojave Road east to west last month with zero issue. Way over rated trail , but worth the beautiful scenery and alone time.

That's a steal for KO2's especially if it included mounting and balancing. I have KO2's on my 2007 4Runner (V8 + 4x4) and I feel invincible on mountain trails and snow. And super quiet on the road. Cant wait to put them on the Taco.

I'm hoping for a recall with a cash credit so I can upgrade to KO2's. :fingerscrossed:

There is a lot of chert mixed in with the sandstone in spots. I didn't take any photos in the rough places but here's a photo online of the trail I was on.

My avatar is a photo from that same trail.
