What ever the 700 dollar tires are, for either it’s worth it in my opinion

Check out the Wildpeak thread before you jump on those. Lots of vibration/tire wear issues with the 116T rated tire. Mine are worn out at 30K & have vibrated since day one after getting a 4 replacements. Trash tire. I would only chance the E-rated version.

Thanks for the info, i'm reading a lot of what your saying too. I'm so torn on my Tire selection. I want to try the Cooper ST MAXX in 265 75 16, but I'm nervous on the MPG loss on an E load rating heavier tire which is why I stumbled onto these Ultra Terrrains. The weight looks appealing, but I'm nervous on the Tire quality puncture wise. I don't do a ton of off roading but want to feel confident when I do. I wonder if these grant better MPG than the ST MAXX. I would assume so, but weight isn't everything or so I've heard.

The E load in the Ultra Terrains was not the lightest tires I was considering...the lightest E1 loads were AT MOST 7lbs. per tire (Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 3), but the average (of those lighter) were only 2 or 3lbs per tire less than the Ultraterrains.

I saved major weight going to the SCS wheels (over 52lbs.) so I wasn't too concerned over an additional 10-15lbs. for the Ultraterrains.

I had my second 5k mile rotation last month and they're running smooth, still pretty quite on the interstate and handle the wet conditions. I went on a trail ride back in August, mostly dry conditions with water holes, but not much actual slick rock/trail conditions...didn't really test them, but they seemed completely capable (this was in Va. on a moderately easy trail, only went to 4 lo twice, once with locker on) for the dirt, gravel and mountain trails/roads.

ST Maxx’s were my tire of choice but I just simply didn’t need an E load tire. I got my Ultra Terrains with a certificate for half the price ($620). The ST Maxx are a great tire and I wish I could afford a set to rotate. One of the main reasons I went with the ultra terrains is they only weigh in at 40lbs compared to the same size st maxx which weigh in around 57lbs per tire. I commute about 45 min one way into work and I have noticed very little difference in MPG (honestly I don’t give a shit about MPG). The tires are quiet (although I have a droning exhaust) and they are extremely responsive. I would say the compounds are pretty soft so I would speculate they may not wear well over time. However, some guys with over 15,000 miles on their appear to be doing really good. They have like an 11 or 14 mm tread depth which is crazy good

Almost pulled the trigger on ST MAXX's and Wildpeak's multiple times when DT was doing sales. After reading the Wildpeak thread on here and the issues people were having with balancing I kept looking and eventually stumbled on this thread. I ended up coming across my set of UT's in LT265/75r16 E load brand new on Craigslist for an awesome deal and drove a couple hours to pick them up. I can't speak for the puncture resistance as I don't do much off roading other than a few yearly hunting trips. I average around 17mpg in my new daily commute of rural and city driving. I've also seen 19/20mpg on trips where I had 4 people including myself in the truck plus luggage in the bed.

I was deciding between 265/65R17 KO2's E & 265/65R17 Duratracs SL just yesterday at Discount Tire. I wasn't too keen on the E rated KO2s, or the maintenance (rotate every 3k-4k) and road noise on the Duratracs, so the D.T rep suggested I go up to 265/70R17 UltraTerrain SL's. I ended up going that route, they get installed tomorrow. Curious, is the SL too soft for you and are they rubbing at all?

I have 265/75/16’s on stock pro suspension. No rub what so ever and I haven’t heard of anyone rubbing on stock OR or Sport Trims either. The SL’s are light right around 40 lbs a tire. Yes the tire tread is soft and very forgiving over ruts or road imperfections. I would suspect they don’t wear well due to the soft compounds but you’ll find guys on here with 15,000 mi on UT’s and they still have lots of tread left. The tread blocks are deeper than a comparable Ko2 tire size in c or d load

I'll try and pull a pic with a quarter tonight, but I've got around 12K+ (majority highway mixed with trail/gravel roads) them and they're still really beefy and deep lugs...this is from Sunday after putting on the rokblokz, so not a direct tread shot, but might give some perspective20191010_092710.jpg 20191010_171908.jpg

Any rubbing with those stealth wheels? Or are you lifted?

So I did trim up the front well liner and bottom recessed body plastic (I'll see about snapping a pic as well), and I did this mostly due to high uphill entrances to businesses (while doing decent speed while entering and sharp up hill turning). Then there is a little bit of CM and pinch rubbing when I went trail riding.

Truck came new from dealer with pro comp 3-n-1 spacer/block lift on OR suspension (along with 275/60r20 pro comp tire and wheel combo). For the normal city, country and interstate driving, there is no rubbing.

    Hope that answers your questions.

    Edited for pics:

I have a 16 4x4 TRD Sport DC. Hoping they don't rub, which sounds pretty promising from you said. Thanks

I have a 17 DC sport, and now that things are aligned better, I don’t seem to have an issue

    Edit I have 70s

I called 4 different Discount Tires around Denver last week asking about the Wildpeaks. All 4 said they were garbage. Who knows though, people seem to like them.

So that could be why yours are wearing so well. The E’s are a much stiffer compound and I think are even a 16mm tread depth new. Are you a 265/75/16 or 265/70/16? Just wondering because of the trimming you did

Not surprised. I have the E-Load Ultra Terrains ordered at local DT & manager asked what I currently had. I said Wildpeaks & his reply was I bet you cant wait to get rid of those. I of course said YES!.
