You guys running the 265/75-16 SL load with the automatic tranny, did you notice any power loss or big MPG hit?

Not really. I went from stock to 265/75/16 C-load Duratracs and hardly noticed a change. The Ultraterrains are a little lighter and have less aggressive tread, so i get a little better MPGs than I did with the Duratracs. If you're being super picky though, maybe .5 MPG loss compared to stock. Although, I have OVTune as well, which helps a bit with bigger tire sizes.

I went from 265/70-16P-metric (stock size & load range) Michelin LTX AT2 to 265/75-16 SL UltraTerrains. No discernible change in power or fuel mileage. Ride was improved slightly with the UTs; the only negative was a downgrade in handling. Steering response was noticeably better with the LTXs, and turning into corners was crisper. You do get used to it but I can still feel the difference. That said, the Michelins are excellent but if I had it to do over again, I would still choose the UTs. They are that good -- and amazingly capable in snow.

Does anyone know if running this tire in a 265/75/16 would rub using 16" scs f5's at the 4.5 backspace "0 offset" size?

Thanks, you helped me make my decision. We have the same exact truck.. I like my ST Maxx but they're a little overkill for my needs.

I went way down the rabbit hole on tire choices for my 2001 taco. Waffling hard b/n Wildpeaks, Open Country AT3's, and Duratracs.

Was running BFG KO2's, which are load range E. Pretty harsh ride and probably way too much tire for that little truck. I loved the KO2's otherwise. Handled great in the snow, on highway, and off road and was never concerned about puncture. But I wanted to go with a lower load rating for ride quality, as this truck is also my DD. Also, the BFG's were scalloped on the shoulders. (The DT guy said this was due to not rotating enough. The tire guy at my mechanic said this happens running an E load tire on a light truck like the 1st gens...not sure I understand the physics behind this train of thought).

I settled on Duratrac C load, and much to my dismay, they did not fit without trimming and messing with a pinch weld. I was running 265/75/16 on stock rims with a 2" OME lift. I was getting rubbing on my frame rails with the KO2's, so decided to get new wheels with more negative offset to deal with it. Well, I got a set of American Racing Bajas for pretty cheap on CL; 16X8 with 0 offset (compared to +15 on stock wheels). They where fine with the kevlars (265/70/16) on them, but the 265 75 Duratracs wouldn't work with out messing with the plastic and likely the pinch weld.

The DT guy said he had the UT's in stock in a 265/70/16. Mounted one up and they fit. I wasn't stoked on going back to 70's, but I decided to give them a shot. I had only looked into them a little bit and they were not really in my final list (WP's and DT's). After reading this thread (damn near all of it), I am feeling pretty good about what I ended up with. They look pretty sweet and I am psyched to try them out. Heading out elk hunting next weekend. About 18 miles of somewhat rough NF roads. Drove the same route two weeks ago with the KO2's and stock wheels, so should be able to have a good comparison.

265/75/16 SL. DTD through eBay, shipped to local Firestone. No rubbing. Handling a bit muted when compared with the OEM goodyears. A little bit of noise, as can be expected. Yes, they pick up rocks. Added 5100s to the front at 1.1" last week. Got just under and inch of lift after things settled. Toe was a bit off, but caster/camber wasn't out of spec (after the shocks).

update 10/19/20: I lost MPG. Lose more the faster I go. Better MPG on backroads at 50 mph than highway at 70 mph.

Just missed out on this deal :( Maybe there will be a rebate when I go in to pay. I ordered a set for the truck a few days ago to get put on this week, in 265/75-16. Looking forward to it.
