Anyone have balancing problems with these? I just replaced my Duratracs that balanced out fine with minimal weight and these seem to require a significant amount of weight. I have 1 wheel that required 10oz to balance and all the rest required almost 5oz. Had them installed at a local Firestone that I've used in the past for tires install/balance without any previous problems.

I just put on the UltraTerrains in PRO stock size and the mechanic stated they were tough to balance but he got it done.

Mine are LT265/75/16 and required double stacking of the weights on a few wheels to get them balanced. I had a vibration and drove 1 hour to a Discount Tire store and they are going to swap them out for me to the SL version. Ordered the LT's online and the local DT Store is assisting with the swap. Hopefully they'll be here later this week.

I’ve read thread after thread about these having balancing issues... is this truly the case? I’ve been thinking, like everyone else in my shoes, about these, general atx’s and toyo at3’s

These look good, but the balance issue might make me steer clear

Please let us know how that goes. These were a consideration but the balance issue reports are not infrequent. Nitto or Toyo seem to have jumped in front of the line here.

I've had my 5 UTs rotated now for 6 rotations/31k miles on them. No complaints from mechanics at DT, nor any issues balance wise during the nearly 2 years of owning them.

Best of luck either way guys!

    Edit: I'm running E load 285/70r17s

I was going to get a set of Ultraterrains on my 4Runner Offroad 4x4 last night but the Discount Tire website was down for maintenance. This morning its back up, but I don't think I want to pay $200 per tire. Guess I'll wait until they go on sale or check out others. With my luck they were on sale until last night LOL. OEMs on my 4Runner were 265/70 r17.

Got the a set of SL 265/75/16 mounted yesterday. Pics definitely don’t do these justice, they are aggressive looking but are great on the highway. Can’t wait to take them to some trails. Thanks again Matt @Discount Tire for the help!

    Setup specs:
TIRE: Wrangler Ultraterrain 265/75/16 SL 116S
    WHEEL: Motegi MR149 16x8 0 offset

    *pics updated!

Got a set of these in 265/70/17 on some methods for my third gen. Like everyone has said, pics don’t do them justice, much beefier in person!

just lifted my truck yesterday, so once it settles and I get it aligned I’ll be throwing these on.

The local Discount Tire swapped my LT265/75/16 that had balancing issues over to the SL version. Minimal weights added to get the SL's balanced. The SL versions are not as beefy as the LT UT tires or as my Durtrac's and look too small on my lifted 3G. The SL's are 11 lbs lighter then the LT's...tread is not as deep and the sidewalls look thinner. Makes me think I should by the road hazard certificates on these if I plan to hit any real rocky areas.
