Thanks! I might get these with the GY Ultraterrains in same size. If you could post more pics would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

Looks like Discount Tire is running a promotion on these until September 6th. Makes for a pretty good deal.

Anyone have experience on these vs Toyo Open Country AT3? I couldn't find many direct comparisons.

My last Tacoma had 285/70R17 (33") Load E tires and looked cool but the ride wasn't great. For that reason, I have been thinking about going 265/75R16 in an SL format to keep things a little more balanced. So, the K02s are out (only load E in that size), and I was leaning towards the Toyos but then saw these.

So far I have these tires for about 2 weeks and I love them so far! I got them at discount and got them to match the current promotion as well which they weren’t so happy about lol. Now, compared to Toyo at3 not sure as I have not owned them but I’ve heard good things about them as well! I went with the ultra terrains because of the sl 40lb a tire and aggressive look. They are a slightly louder than stock obvious it’s at tire but I’m putting sound deadening anyways on my doors.

    wanna be mods
So the other weekend I was on a trail and long story short, took a bad line and the rock won against the sidewall (I don't think any more sidewall plys would have done any better) 20210821_151010.jpg 20210821_151406.jpg

Glad I was doing the 5 tire rotation...turns out the blown tire was lowest tread at 11/32, the other 4 were at 12 and 13/32s (I've have them on the truck for over 33k so far). IMG_0230 (1).jpgFun spare swapping on the trail!

Had certs on the tires, so getting a new one swapped out was easy as 41 bucks and an hour at DT. Threw on the new 15/32s on the back right to get four rotations before being thrown into the bed.

Ouch! yea the sidewalls are weak, similar to the duratracs. Hence the lightweight. Got to tip toe over the sharp rocks. Even then the risk is always there. Easy change for you though. If that rock could speak I bet its got a few victims to tell about. ;)

Yes we are! $110 instantly off any set of Goodyear tires until 9/6(2021). The E rated tires can certainly ride a bit rough compared to an SL rated counterpart. We would be happy to help further PM on the way!

I have about 5,000 miles on my 265/70r17 SL, I would like to upgrade to a bigger size next time.
Discount Tire, is there any plans to expand the lineup to include a 275 or 285 in SL?

Well, I went ahead an put in the order for a set, given the rebate and good reviews in here. Probably one of the better options in 265/75r16 if one wants a light SL tire with a bit of ruggedness.

Will be a couple weeks before the install appointment at DT, but I will post some pics once on and some initial thoughts.

Goodyear lost me completely with their Duratracs. Complete garbage of a tire. I use to like some of their tires but after purchasing a set of the duratracs for my wife’s 4Runner and my Tacoma and how bad they roared and wore completely uneven and cupped like hell. Goodyear can just hang one in their butts. I even contacted Goodyear to ask what was up with them and they of course acted oblivious but get online and pretty much nothing but negative reviews about them. Rant over and my apologies

regarding the duratracs - Maybe there’s some inconsistency or maybe just depends on the vehicle or expectations?

I have two buddies who rave about them. one on a TJ jeep wrangler and the other with a third GEN Tacoma.

Who knows. For the first 10k miles they were great. Then it seemed like a light switch was flipped and they just went to cupping. I took both in for an alignment and there was no issue with the alignment so they were rebalanced and still just were terrible.

I was able to get a set at the $110 off sale price for my incoming Tacoma. They seem like a great tire, especially at this price.

First, allow me to thank you for your service. Much respect.

As to Goodyear tires -- I have not owned Duratracs, so I have no direct experience with them. In fact I can't recall buying any Goodyear tire until my UltraTerrains. Obviously no fanboy here. Before you throw the entire brand into the trash, consider this. Being an old retired fart, I have bought many sets of tires from a small handful of brands. My UltraTerrains have right at 12K miles and have been rotated twice (I do it every 5K miles). Tread wear is even (yes, I check air pressure and tread depth regularly). They have a slight hum so are not the quietest tire, and their response (think of cornering on a twisty mountain road) is not as crisp & immediate as my previous Michelin LTXs. But they have a very cushy ride FWIW, and their snow performance has to be experienced to be believed. I live up a steep hill so that matters to me. As a bonus, I think they look great. Oh one last thing -- no need to apologize for your rant. You had a bad experience and shared it.

I love the Michelin LTX M/S tires they last forever. I guess I can’t completely dismiss Goodyear. I do intend on trying another set of the MT/R’s they have. I had good experience with those years ago.

Agreed, I think the Michelin LTX are the best riding highway tire out there. They just don’t really have a great rugged look to match, say, a TRD off-road tacoma.

In fact they came stock on my limited and discount tire agreed to give me a little bit of trade-in credit on them.

I will miss the ride quality of the Michelin LTX but looking forward to an enhanced appearance, hopefully, from these Goodyear ultraterrains.
