In February I purchased a new Sport, 5 months later I find myself in a new Off Road. With the current condition of the used truck market I was able to get the dealership to actually PAY ME $2500 to drive a new one of the lot.(The sun shines on a dog's ass every now and then) 20210316_165553.jpg

With that being said I'm in the market for new wheels and tires. I've decided to with Goodyear Ultraterrains this time around instead of Falcon Wildpeaks. I like the Wildpeaks at first (looks, style, ride, noise) but after a couple hundred miles I started to notice wobble and slight vibration, nothing horrible just annoying. I also wasn't a fan of the MPG loss. The Wildpeak comes in at 47lbs (265-70R17) and the Ultraterrains tip the scale at 40lbs (265-75R16). I'm hoping this will extend my range. The Black Rhino Stadium Wheels were on the heavier side as well 29lbs (17x8.5"). The Raceline Scouts I've chosen this time are 25lbs (16x8). 11lbs per corner doesn't seem like a big deal to me but I'm curious to find out if it makes a difference or not. New wheels and tires are going on in a couple days (as soon as they get in) so I'll update ASAP. Hopefully I'm happy with my decision! Nice OP! Basically a 6 month test drive in a Sport that you got paid $2500 to do and then an upgrade to an OR for free-ish? Can't beat that! Assuming they are similarly optioned.....

I have the ultra terrains and I think they are one of the best tires. I bought them for the 3 peak rating and they are rediculous in the snow, I've driven in 10" powder plowing snow with the front bumper and never once worried.

They're slightly louder than stock, and about 1mpg worse.

I've got them mounted of f5's though, which are only 18 pounds, so I'm still 2 pounds lighter per wheel than stock offroad.

I can still easily get 22-24mpg highway driving 60-70.

When I switched out my wheels and tires i went with Wildpeaks. When I was done I added about 22 lbs per corner. I like my setup but I hate the mpg loss, the wildpeaks are great on and off-road but next time I get tires I’m going for something lighter.

I see they “PAID” you but I was more wondering if you just didn’t like the sport, I have an Off-road and I wouldn’t trade it for a Sport even if they “PAID” me too.

It was a great deal. I got $42,000 on trade in for the sport (paid $37,500) I got the offer for 42k from a Honda dealership when we bought my wife a new Passport. So my toyota salesmen was able to take my truck in on trade for 42K, sell it to Honda for 42K and sell me my new OR to me for 39,300 netting me $2677 after title and license. They're pretty much identical minus the roof rack...

I wanted an OR originally but could find a new one...The OR is better IMO. SOO BONUS!

And shorter bed. That increases a trucks price by a few thousand where I live.

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
I'm skeptical. The net seems a little slimmer if you factor in losing the rims, tires, roof rack, long bed and time out of your day for trips to the DMV to return plates.

I guess if you wanna get technical, I had about 700 into wheels and tires on the sport after selling the stock wheels and tires. 130 for window tint. Long bed is moot (I have a trailer) and would never use the roof rack. In Washington we don't go to the DMV. so about 2000 net...maybe down to 1500 after I pay for new wheels and tires on the OR and sell the stocks...

I loved the way the setup I had looked. Just trying something new to see how it goes.

Let's be honest here. Your wife was probably tired of all the women throwing panties at your Sport with the skewp. Now all she has to worry about is men wanting to see your crawl control button.

I've had my Ultraterrains for a while now and the perform well in the few snow storms we had last year. I've not had any issues on or off road with them. I will probably go with them again even though they were higher in price than Falken Wildpeaks. I read a lot of reviews and posts on here to make my decision plus they got a glowing recommendation from the guy I bought my skid plate from and he off roads a lot based on the work he does.

Down the road I will probably go to a larger size tire when my suspension finally gets installed but for now they work great.

Goodyear is running a promo right now. I think it's $50-$150 off depending on the tire. That was another reason I went with the Ultraterrains.

Had wildpeaks, they were great, but when I went to 285s I switched to duratracs, super happy w em and they look a little more aggressive, 10k miles into em now. Geolandar mts were terrible!
