I was wondering how long folks who kept the Goodyear's on the truck, were able to use them?

I have close to 39k and I'm not feeling the love from these tires anymore...

Is 40k about what we should expect?

Anyone suggest replacements? I researched, I tow a trailer over the summer and see the wildpeaks may be too soft. Costco has the Michelin defenders... But is that castration on an or.

    I hit about 24k miles a year...

    Cheers. Go Packers.

Yeah at 40k it's time to replace those tires. Not sure what you mean castration though?

Michelins appear a little muted, like a road tire... Truck with car tires... Like a base 2500hd with those tiny tires, look funny.

I got rid of my Kevlars at about 40K. Replaced with Pirelli Scorpions that I'm really liking so far.

    Duratracs,
I've towed, drove in snow, sand, dirt, loose gravel etc. I've had them on 33s and 35s, E rated ftw. Yeah heavy but I've yet to have a puncture. Those tire have seen terrain some people would cry driving their trucks through.

As long as the tires perform well off-road and on-road, I don't give a crap about treadwear. I spend more on gas every 6 months.

That said I have about 35k miles on my load range C Duratracs and they still have 7/32" tread left. I think the compound is not the same through the whole tread depth, for structural integrity reasons. Top layer is softer (for better grip in the winter). Lower layer is harder.

I kept the stock tires on for 30k miles and they actually performed great so long as I didn't go anywhere too adventurous. Once I had the new tires on order...I would peel out of places and if there was any water on the road I was able to do very small burnouts. When they asked if I wanted to keep the tires I politely said "no, those poor things deserve to die." New tires (not in winter) are Deegan 38's. Love em

The stock tires have been great for me so far. I think 40k miles is good life expectancy.

When it comes time to replace them, I may look at Cooper AT3's or Toyo AT2. I think the Cooper's have a 60k mile warranty.

Kept mine for 200miles. not a bad tire, but I went with bfg KO2s E-rated. Reliable, aggressive and meaty. The good years are ok, but felt too much like a street tire as well as offered little advantage off the pavement. So before I wore the tread down I sold them to a 2nd gen owner who loves them.

I just replaced mine - had 43K and had 3/32 left. I just went with the same tires again. I've no issues - off road (around our farm) they work well and on the road they deliver good MPG.
