I've been searching for some new tires for my Tacoma and would really like to go with the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac. They look very aggressive and received great reviews.

I have the 2003 Xtra Cab Prerunner V6 4WD with factory suspension, 16" wheels and tires (265/70/16).

The closest match Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires are available in 265/75/16 size, so I wasn't sure if they would fit my factory wheels without any rubbing issues.

    Thoughts?

Some of this Some of that
You should really search before you post this sort of question, far too many threads are started about this. The answer is most likely they will work, but they may rub a little if your suspension is especially sagged or what not

They may rub just slightly but you should be fine. I run duratracs in that size on my stock rims for street tires. I really like them.

Im in the market for some Duratracs right now as well. I have a stock 2013 DCSB 4x4 SR5, and I am ordering some wheels separately.

    Found the following:
Discount tire direct - free shipping, no tax, $70 rebate til sept 30.
    $235/each LT265/70R17C1 112Q W (assuming W = White letters)
    $245/each LT265/70R17E1 121Q B (assuming B = Black letters)

Which is better - Load C or E, and why?

Is Q rating for speed a problem?

Do I need to order valve stems when ordering the tires, or the return/replace certificate?

Mr. Tire has the same tire (black letters) for $250/each, but that includes free install and shipping, but not tax.

Tire Rack has them for $222 each but shipping is $112. And they will mount/balance them with the Ultra Mavericks I want and ship them completed to my doorstep ... 160 for shipping though.

TireBuyer.com has the maverick rims in stock with free delivery + 10% off right now - unfortunately they dont offer mounting/balancing or that would be the best deal.

Be prepared to lose some MPG from running an aggressive all terrain and a heavier tire than stock. FYI.

I once had Duratracs, but because my truck was is used for 98% highway long commutes the mpg hit wasn't worth it for my application so I switch to a less aggressive and lighter Michelne tire. Also my 265/75/16 Durtracs rubbed on the frame at full lock so that was pretty annoying.

I like them! I have them on a few of our work trucks and my tacoma. The work trucks are chevys with 265s. The are wearing great and love the traction and are not to loud. My taco has 31X10.50s and are noisey as hell, and are wearing in a wierd way.
Other than that traction is great in the dirt, snow and mud.

Yes they will fit, yes they will rub slightly on the frame when you turn the wheels to full lock. Here is my truck w/ stock suspension, 4Runner wheels (same specs as the tacoma wheels) & 265/75/16 Duratracs.

I'm running a 3" suspension lift with saggy stock coils and I have minor frame rubbing at full lock. Funny thing is I can clear a 285/7516 but the reason is when I tried a set of those on, they were on rims with a 4" back spacing. My duratracs are on factory rims which I believe have a 5.25" back spacing. So your best bet is to get spacers or new rims with a smaller back spacing. Ill eventually be upgrading to 285/75R16s on a 16x8" rim with 4" back spacing.

Not a very helpful opinion in terms of size, however I just got them and love em. The look, the road noise is not as loud as I'd expected (given it's a more aggressive AT tire), snow rated and I heard it's not too bad off road either.

    Here are my 285/75/16s:

Sorry to bring this thread back up but... 285/75R16 on 16x8 with 3.5" backspacing and a OME881/Dakar lift? Yeah, I know I have to remove the mud flaps and trim some plastic, but apart from that?

Did you lose power at all with this setup? How much trimming and what lift do you have on your truck?

Dura trac’s work decent on everything beside wet asphalt. Ive heard people nocking them Bc the siping doesn’t last as long as the tire. They start off quiet and get louder. K02 and wildpeak are also popular.

LMAO... Nothing like digging up a thread that's been dead for over 5 years.

And LMAO at Duratracs not working on wet pavement. And LMAO, even more, that it was followed up by a nod towards KO2... which SUCK on wet pavement.

You said Duratracs are decent on QUOTE "everything besides wet asphalt"

    Did I miss something?

Duratracs are better than average on wet pavement, and probably the best all terrain tire on the market in the snow.

Maybe better then Average A/T hybrid tire.(a few newer models tho im sure neither of us has tried) I wouldn’t say they are good on wet asphalt though. I’m half way thru my set. Never said they didn’t work.

Your post sure sounded like it.

When you say something is decent except on wet pavement, it implies that they are not decent on wet pavement... hence EXCEPT on wet pavement.

Duratracs are pretty much better than average on everything. I wheeled through 2 sets of them. They have good road manners in all conditions. Hands down the BEST I have ever had in snow. They have excellent traction offroad. They do get a bit louder as they wear, but I got a very good amount of mileage out of them... and even at their loudest, they aren't as loud as many mud tires are brand new. And for an offroad tire to have a 50,000 mile warranty is generally unheard of.

The only real knock I have heard from anyone on a regular basis is that they have weak sidewalls. I think that is bullshit as I wheel very regularly in volcanic areas and have never seen any hint the sidewalls had problems.

I just switched from Duratrac to a set of Milestar Patagonias.

I haven't run them aired down, and on the trail, myself. But I wheel with a few guys that run them and have run them for a few years. They really like them.

So far, I have to say, they are very nice. Very quiet and run very smooth. We'll see how many miles I get out of them and how they perform. But from everything I have seen of them, they should be very good tires.
