Ok I know I could do this with an old fashioned atlas, or a hand held GPS (which I do NOT have).

But is there a computer program that would allow me to make a route of where I run that will tell me distance, etc. I want to be able to track my progress with how far I make it before I need a breather, time it took vs distance etc.

I thought about mapquest, but I run on some trails that don't follow roads. Also my computer gives me this when I try to download google earth

You can also go to Start - Run - type "services.msc"

Find the Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

Right click and click start. If that dont work, you might have a problem with that service.
