    Hey all,

    GoPro has a pretty good deal going for their Hero 7. $100 off (bringing it down to $300) if you trade in any old/broken digital camera, as long as it's original price was $100 or more.

    you have purchase the camera and then mail off the "trade in" camera. Once they receive the camera they will send you the Hero 7

    My work bought one of these to use for confined/hazardous space inspections. Having never used a GoPro before, I was very impressed with the quality of the thing.

    It's really nice and now I want one!

    I did the exchange with my original gopro. Transaction was smooth and got the camera pretty quickly. I now have 5 gopros. (2) hero 2, (2) hero 4 blacks and now the 7 black. I use my hero 4s much more than the 7. While the 7 has some great video features the battery doesn't last very long at all. Then you have to deal with the SD card errors that happen every other time you start it. I have the recommended cards and it still does it regularly. And now that the weather is hot it will over heat very quickly. And you can't add.an extended battery unless you buy a huge thing that hangs off the side.

    I do like it when it works. The video quality is great and the slow motion videos are nice. Touch screen is easy to use and setup. I wouldn't spend $300 for it though. I think there are better alternatives out there. I will be getting something else next time.

    Have we ever been able to add an extended battery? I've only been able to swap duplicate batteries. Also, are you always filming in 4k? The way I see it, 1080 is best for most things. Switch to 4k when you've got something awesome you plan on doing

    I use the 1080. I don't have a 4k tv to view it on. There are extended batteries for the 4black. Not sure on anything after the 4. I can get 4+ hours on my 4 black with the version I have.

    This is the one I have. I am sure it's renamed like most of these electronic items, but it has been very reliable. Gave my other to my father in law thinking I could buy the same one but it isn't available anymore. But they have similar versions. Just look at the reviews and weed through the bogus crap.

    That looks like it attaches to the outside of the camera instead of going into the battery slot. Do you have to use a special case with it?

    These style batteries will come with a larger rear case to accommodate the battery. It does attach to the back which is ok. The 7 black extended batteries attach to the side making it very wide. I like the narrower but longer case for my helmets and when I strap it onto my dogs back during parties. It's a cool way to get a different look at gatherings. Pretty funny actually.

    Really? I never saw one in my costco. Would have been nice to know. The OG gopro I traded in was just taking up space anyway and was so old it was useless. So kinda worked out, when I use that 7 black that is lol

    @DirtJumper14

    Try bumping the 1080p down to 60fps. It might be defaulting to 240fps, which I imagine would drain the battery quicker.

    I got my son a hero black for his birthday. Just now getting around to learn to use it. I got it set up and all, but most of the time when I record it cuts off on its own. Not the screen saver either. It stops recording! It may be 5 seconds or 30. I have a sandisk 128 ultra in it now. I've read online that the extreme cards work better? I'm going to see what I have in my dash cams and try them before ordering a sandisk extreme. It does get hot, the battery goes quick, but hopefully I can work the quirks out. Anyone have any more suggestions??

    Last I read it was $50 off. Still seems like a sweet deal. I'm in the market for one - glad I read this thread. I was about to pick up a new Black - mostly b/c of 240fps @1080p but maybe I'll keep researching....

    I’m using a Sandisk Extreme 256gb V30, in a 7 Black. No issues.

    Thank you, may get one and try. I swapped with my car dash cam. It's a sandisk extreme gb. Still stops recording with no rhyme or reason, at different time intervals.
